Don't listen too much to him. Lightning spears got nerfed way too hard, yes (Sunlight Spear is still great, though), but so many miracles are still uber good, like Blinding Bolt, Heavenly Thunder, Wrath of the Gods, and of course Sunlight Blade. Plus, faith gives healing spells which are a must for invasions. Miracles are more supportive for melee builds with great AoE spells than actually full on offensive magic.

Good to hear, I'm hoping to do some pvp with this character I'm planning. I was think GMB or restoration to go along with sunlight blade.

Take advantage of Blinding Bolt and Heavenly Thunder. They help a LOT.
