Why shouldn't thorn be nerfed in pvp (Resonable discussion)
Thorn is much better than every single weapon in pvp and if you believe in a balanced pvp you should want a nerf. If u don't tell me why. Please have well though out answers and no shit like 'git gud'. Be sensible

All that needs to be changed is the DOT shouldn't kill guardians. Everything else people are exaggerating about. It's range is fine.

DoT damage needs to be 5 or 6 damage per tick. That is all. Besides that bigger maps need to be added into rotation so it can get beaten out by pulse rifles and scout rifles at long ranges

I personally feel that the thorn and the last word should be kept the way they are now here's why. The thorn every single person in this entire game has an equal opportunity to get it may take others longer then some dependent upon skill. As well The Last Word is basically in every single persons vault or on one character because it's so easy to obtain. So they're so easy to get means everyone has an equal chance to use them in crucibles maybe not the guys and girls under level 20 but that's just how the game works. They both are good I agree but they can be countered each of them. There's shot guns for the close battles with tlw there's snipers for thorn or shoot with me playing as much skirmish as I do and seeing these guns a lot. The jewel of Osiris can kill both thorn and tlw users easily if you get that first shot off. I feel like if you nerf these guns it just takes away skills you gain in pvp. If you're not learning to counter things and it just becomes another cod shooter it's no fun that way. But that's just my opinion.

All it needs is a range nerf. No hand cannon, not even an exotic, should be able to out range a scout rifle. Beyond that, the damage and dot are fine.

I suck at PvP anyway and get rekt by all weapons so it doesnt matter. Too many things have been nerfed already so just leave it alone.

2 Repliesbecause they need to STOP NERFING STUFF!!! thorn may not be the most plesent thing to fight in crucible, but look on the bright side its not a shotgun. DONT NERF SHOTGUNS EITHER!! im a scout rifle fan myself. we have had to many nerfs in destiny, if it doesnt stop we will be throwing sticks and stones at the enemy. there are plenty of more pressing issues to attend to, like auto rifles they are terribad in PVE. another pressing issue is vault of glass is still riddled with glitches. there is also the concern of connection stability. a few other things that arnt coming to mind right now, but anyway the point is we dont need any more nerfs TO ANYTHING.

If and when the destiny meta moves away from thorn, the bad players will just latch on to whatever replaces it and the bitching will continue.

3 RepliesAll you need to do is tweak the DoT perk. Add the caveat "to minions of darkness". That way, DoT only activates against PvE enemies. It would be the same as those helmets that only give you more super energy against minions of the darkness.

ALL hand cannons were [b]ALREADY[/b] nerfed. They increased the damage drop off at greater ranges, they reduced first shot & (quick) follow up accuracy.

You know tripleWRECK uses thorn right? It's a weapon that requires good stats because of its quest line being difficult for most people.

1 ReplyThorn is pretty much like all other hand cannons. It just has that burn. I think the only thing it needs is that the burn will NEVER kill you, but it would leave you with only 1 point of health.

The person that kills you with thorn, 9 times out of ten would have killed you with any other weapon. I get killed by suros as often as I do thorn.

1 ReplyI think hand cannons are closer to what bungie intended but still need a slight tweak. Some of them might as well be scout rifles with the range and damage they can do. Seems just out of place. (I only use my thorn in pvp because if you can't beat them then join em.)

My "fix" for thorn is to have a damage drop off on the DOT, after a certain distance it will do no damage. Sucks to get sniped by a hand cannon from long range.

Same thing happened with the vex, while the gun was unique nobody want it a fix for it, but then when everyone started getting the vex the one that had it before complain about it. At the end one of the best weapon now it's no even worth it. Same here with the thorn the more people starts getting it, you will see a fix for it in a couple of months, and then they will start complaining about a new weapon, I used to get mad when people used it, what I did to mine out the vault and started using it.
