As meat already mentioned, once you've exhausted weeklies, engram farming is the way to go. I've found patrolling had a way higher drop rate than running strikes, even considering the garunteed loot on completion. If you have alternate characters, you can triple the amount of coins from the weekly. Don't want to spend forever finding gear and leveling up three classes? Roll the same class three times and rotate your best gear.
