Hello, reader, and welcome! First of all, I want to thank you for clicking on the thread and giving this story a look. Shachal is indeed a Destiny fanfiction; one of the longest, deepest stories that I know of written in this particular universe. If you don't believe me, give the Novel Format link a look and you'll see it is virtually the length of a book and is still ongoing at the moment. Not only that, it is an old project. I started writing this story over a year ago. More specifically, the first chapter was posted October 24th of 2013, if memory serves me correctly, and I've been adding to it ever since. The amount of time and patience put into this work has been tremendous, but it's been a truly gratifying experience writing this tale, and I enjoy entertaining my readers with the many events Shachal's characters are put through. [spoiler]I used to not include this bit of information before, but I feel it is necessary: As noted earlier, this is an old project. If you can remember, very little information was shared with the public about Destiny back then. At the time of Shachal's development, we didn't know how your Guardians came to be. We didn't know how connected you were with your Ghost and even its capabilities were a mystery. Much of our enemies' profiles and origins were unknown, and the information actually shared was very vague. For fanfiction authors, it was a time of many questions, but also brought about an explosion of creativity demanded in a universe that had seemingly unseen limits. Without forging lore of your own, stories had virtually nothing to work with in the development stages. So that is what I did; I created lore of my own that I thought would make the Destiny universe interesting and fill the many holes we were left wondering about. Given, my fan-developed lore was in great part speculations and theories about the official plot. Furthermore, I'm not one to write stories as I go (even though Shachal has been my first story attempt in any universe, fanfiction or not), so even as I continue writing chapters to this day, I haven't abandoned the development I established originally. What you read isn't a carbon copy of Destiny's campaign, nor is it a recital of its plot line. This is Shachal, and while its lore doesn't closely follow what you all know as Destiny, I have worked hard to offer you the best quality my abilities can offer. I want to extend appropriate acknowledgements toward fellow authors like Hobbes92, Zest Subject, Midas Cyeneus, Aleroth Aloki, and many other authors from the Black Garden for being part of the same generation of writers who dared mold in-depth stories from morsels of clay.[/spoiler] Moving forward though, you may find this information helpful. As you read, it won't take long for you to notice the various names found in Shachal are not based on ordinary English. For the sake of secrecy, I won't say what inspired their names, but in every case you see a "ch", it's pronounced as if a "k". That includes "Shachal", pronounced "shah-kahl" (no, not "shackle" haha). The Destiny logo dividing segments of content marks a shift in perspective, time, place, or any combination of the three. Keep in mind, this story does alternate between first person and third person perspectives, but those shifts are included in the utilization of the Destiny logo. Most of it is written in first person though, meaning the main character's point of view is in effect. All other characters' perspectives use third person when those occasions arise. Forgive the lengthy introduction, but I want to be sure all relevant information is available to those who may find themselves curious. I don't want to take much more of your time, so I just want to thank all of my readers, old and new alike, but my regular readers especially.
