I think you're confusing the terms overpowered and unbeatable to mean the same things. They are not. A OP weapon can be counterable.
You can be beat someone using a gun that is overpowered. All an overpowered gun is is a gun that gives someone a decisive advantage against other people who do not use that gun. To the point where it reduces the amount of skill needed to compete with said weapon or increases the level of skill needed to overcome it.
For instance if you have two competitive players in a mutual situation and firefight it should be the players that decide the battle not which one has the better weapon.
Now do all good weapons fall into the OP area no but if some do they should be relooked at.
I do think Thorn falls into the realm of OP because it creates unfair advantages that have to be taken into account. Even then it may not be enough.

I find people seem to overlook all that Thorn has going for it. - A DoT that ticks for 6 seconds, in other words, you have no shields for 6 seconds, that's HUGE in PvP. - Screen blur that is extremely annoying and distracting, and limits your field of view. - I think everyone can agree now that it's 2 headshots + poison to kill someone, yet Thorn has 8 bullets in the clip, giving you 4x as much as you need to kill someone. - Excellent Stability, which means shots are almost identically where they were before the previous shot - Range that is a bit absurd for a handcannon given it's range stat. - Impact that is enough to make a sniper miss by a large margin if they are hit before they fire. The damage isn't OP. If you had a base thorn with no perks but 365 damage, it wouldn't be on everyone's hit list. It's only when you start combining all the added benefits like screen blur and 6 seconds without shields that it becomes strong. No other gun has perks that impair the player's abilities.

I think your confusing Destiny - where you take your weapons you acquire in game - with a shooter where everyone has the same generic weapons. People did the bounty to get Thorn. People ran VoG for Vex. Are they great? Yeah. Do they have advantages? Yeah. Are they decisive advantages? Not even close. You think something is so spectacular that you have to use it, go get one.

Edited by Newjak86: 6/8/2015 4:23:41 PMSome would say the Thorn does have decisive advantages and that you are handicapping yourself if you fight people that do have one if you don't. Yes I think the Thorn is OP. Also the argument of if you don't like it go get yourself one is flawed. That line of thinking does not confirm nor deny if a weapon is OP or not.

Some would say any weapon or ability in the game have decisive advantages and that you are handicapping yourself if you fight people that do have one if you don't. They're called babies.
-
You can choose to call them whatever you want it does not make them wrong.
-
You can call weapons whatever you'd like, it doesn't make you right.
-
True which is why we look at 4he advantages and numbers for a weapon. And when looking at the numbers and advantages for Thorn it adds up to an op weapon
-
You're not factoring everything in though. How big an advantage does Thorn have vs 3 Little Words with 3rd Eye and Glass Half Full? What's it's advantage over Red Death or Vex? There are so many weapons that can now be set up exactly how you want them. Thorn has a DoT. BFnD.

Edited by Newjak86: 6/8/2015 6:14:33 PMYou know there have been better posts in this thread detailing why Thorn is OP. Instead of me rewriting what they've said how about you reply to them. Heck one of was in reply to my original post.
-
I've replied to every one I've seen. In the end, everyone complaining it's OP just aren't willing to face the challenge of beating Thorn. It's hard to be challenged, that's why it's called a challenge. Complaining, crying and asking for nerfs is easy. Choose your path.
-
There are at least two very good ones you have not replied to. That is..silly. You're argument is if something is op just enjoy challenging it even though it gives players an unfair advantage. That's once again sily.

What there's a lot of is people talking dumb shit like your k/d this or I've played more than you, blah blah blah. It's a freaking positive post trying to look at weapons from a different perspective instead of all the nerf everything posts. Unbelievable how deeply offended some of you are that Thorn doesn't bother me. Sorry I rarely die to it, I can't make those using it better for you.

Edited by Newjak86: 6/8/2015 7:11:28 PMThe problem is you are trying undermine a potential legitimate issue by saying it doesn't bother me so it s shouldn't bother you. Which is a silly argument. No one cares if you are okay with. Most people care about its ttk. It long range. It's DoT which makes it a high damage weapon. These things have made it a game breaking weapon. Also the more and more I read your posts it's almost like you're trying to say I don't die to it therefore I'm obviously better than you. Sorry you guys suck to try and dismiss their claims because of thay.

The problem is that you are trying to create an issue where there isn't one. If Thorn is so game breaking, please show me all the people who win every match and never die using it. There are at least 1-2 Thorn users on the other team in every PvP match. I would absolutely love for you to show me any evidence that shows them outperforming everyone else. You can't do it because they don't. Hell go through my opponent history in my matches and show me the Thorn domination. Show me all the 30+ kill games from Thorn. In all the PvP games I've played, I've seen someone so completely dominate that I've double checked what they were using exactly twice. Pocket Infinity and Plug One. The Plug One is the only person I've ever seen put up 40+ kills. At the end of every match, Thorn users have the same kill death stats as everyone else. Some are good, some aren't. Read whatever you'd like into my post. I don't die to Thorn much and almost never to the poison. That's not bragging, that's just facts. Everyone talks such mad shit about how great it is and I don't see it. Red Death I see. It's an absolute beast. Still up to me to try to beat them, not have Bungie beat them for me.

Do you ever know how this game works? You all realize this isn't Halo, right?
