There is no way in hell I'm paying £40 for an expansion.
I was never on the hype train for lack of content but seriously, have they really come up with and developed a new set of sub classes, a new enemy class, a new raid boss and everything else besides that in ONE year.
This game has been in dev for a very very long time and the fact that we have to pay such a steep price for it is insulting.
Make the price of the expansion £10 for those who bought the limited editions of the game/season pass etc. And for those that didn't make it £20.
I blame Activision for this, not Bungie. I can imagine a lot of the dev team would have loved to of pushed this material straight through to the community.
Alas, we are being played for fools once again.
EDIT: I like that this has caused a good discussion. Some are saying that £40/$40 for the dlc is fair price considering the cost to play time ratio and that they wouldn't mind paying it again.
Others are stating that the price is pocket change. I saw somewhere where one player said minimum wage is around $15 per hour. That's actually incredible. The point is that for those who are on less than that will struggle. For instance I'm 22 and only get £6.51 an hour so you can see the issue.
And others feel that we are owed this content. Which is tricky as we don't have the evidence to support it.
EDIT: for those confused as to the wage I'm on im a student in final year working part time to fund my university degree. I'm 22 as well.

My money will be gone from buying the most expesiv version of fallout 4 anyway sooo....

The price for the content seems seems fair. If $40 is too expensive for you then you aren't really buying AAA video games on a regular basis. At that point you have to maximize value. This game has excellent value per dollar. The raids are fun and take time to go through. You have new strikes, new sub classes, gear, etc. Frankly I have never thought I didn't get my monies worth in this game. You could always choose another game buy you either have funds to buy video games or you don't.

im poor but yet i was able to buy the GE useing a vary simple and tested proven way... its called SAVING UP we have more then 3 months to save up 40 bucks i may not have 40 bucks at this moment but i can find 40 buck in the sofa in less then 3 months

It's up to the individual to decide if the expansion is worth the price. If you don't think it's worth it, then don't purchase it. Well after reading what this expansion is most likely going to include, I think it's worth it since it will have more content than the first two expansions combined.
-
Only 40 dollars? Imma roll up to gamestop in my bugatti and pre order that BS as soon as I can.
-
Of course its been in development for a long time, and the same with the previous DLC's. But you can bet the idea to make them as purchasable DLC's was thought up before they were developed. Everyone seems to think that they all of a sudden thought "oh let's make those bits DLC and charge more for them!" If you believe that then you're an idiot. DLC has been around for a while now, and I gauruntee they were part of the plan for Destiny from the get go.

Yeah you will. #emptythreats #muted

I make $8.15 an hour but im 17 so i dont really have any expenses other than food

Forms of entertainment you need to pay for to continue to enjoy. Internet Cable Sporting events Hookers Card games (MTG) Movies Music Cell phones Video games None of these things are required to survive. You continue to pay them(most likely your parents do) to enjoy them now and in the future.

Jesus Christ people. First you whine about TDB and HoW's limited content (which was fine with me even, more stuff to play is nice) and now that TTK offers tons of new content, you complain about the price. All you poor kids need to learn that you're not entitled to everything for free or a better offer just because you want it.

40 dollars for countless hours of fun ? Count me in

Edited by SweetZombieJesus: 6/10/2015 7:47:56 PMNot telling you how you should feel. But we paid, $40 combined for two DLCs with 3 strikes, 1 raid, maybe what 8 real missions, not just bounties or quests, a new PvP challenge, and PoE. The Taken King - 12 missions, 4 strikes, 1 raid, new subclass, plus whatever else is included... Adding it all up... Seems fair if you consider the current pricing standard.
-
It's 40 dollars. Not 40 pounds
-
Hard to say without seeing what's in it. If it revolutionizes the game as the rumors suggest, okay, cool. If it's more already installed inaccessible content suddenly made avail, then no thanks.
-
$300-400 for a console $60 for psn+ or Xbox gold $60 for destiny $35 for season pass $40 for comet THATS INSANE!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
I would like to see two to three raids but that's just wishful thinking :/
-
I could go out to a movie. I could go out for a nice dinner. I could go out for a night of drinks. Hell, I could buy ingredients for a nice roast dinner with dessert. All of these things can get pretty pricey. All of these things give a night's worth of entertainment, if that. Meanwhile, I could buy the Destiny DLC and get many, many nights worth of entertaimment. Hell, even just a week's worth would more than justify the cost when weighed against other things that I could spend some spare money on. If you can't afford a Destiny DLC, or hell any singular DLC for that matter, you may need to consider what else you're actually spending your money on. Hell, don't buy a coffee for your morning lectures for a week. Saving $40 isn't hard.

Edited by Duo_69: 6/10/2015 9:35:51 PMThere Are a few things that should be adressed: -We don't know What the expansion will be until closer to luanch. So how can you say it's too much? -What wage you make has very little bearing on What the price tag of anything will be. I am not saying anything negative about people with low paying jobs. Or those of you still in school. But what you make is just that. The price is the price. If you can't afford it. Save up until you can. What? you can't play til a month after luanch? Two months? Three maybe? So what that's life. I want a brand New vehicle and a newer home. Guess what? I have to save for it. I can't just walk into a dealership and tell them their prices are too high and expect then to cut it in half. -Just because a person purchases the game doesn't entitle you to anything but that game. Expansions are extra. Thus they cost extra. This won't change and people should not expect it to.
-
I'm not upset if we're all charged the same. My jimmies get well and truly rustled when they charge $40, €40 & £40... With exchange rates THEY ARE NOT THE SAME PRICE. So why do I have to pay more cos I live in the UK?
-
I think we are luck that we don't have to pay a monthly fee and it would still be worth it.
-
I would wait till e3 to make a educated decision!
-
Almost as much content as this Beta we have been playing! When is the real game gonna come out?
-
Im only confused on one thing. Why is the game the 40 euros? Dont euros still have a higher conversion rate than dollars? Did Greece mess everything up that much? I need a newspaper
-
Is it 40 pounds for you?! If it's $40 I assumed it would be 30 pounds.
-
It's steep but think how expensive your nights out at uni add up to. Stay in for a couple of nights and buy it and get hundreds of hours of money's worth
-
if its 40 bucks thats fine. i rather pay that then have to pay 15 bucks a month to be able to do anything. or 15 a month to get access to all dlc content like some games are doing.
