The box I found it in read "Steves 12 gauge!" lol, that's really all I know about the technical stuff It also has Springfield stamped on the side but it's barely legible through the rust

  • Apple cider vinegar will take the rust off, but it'll also strip the finish. It's a 12 gauge, so the X-Caliber adapters ought to work. Just a neat idea, is all. I've got a double barrel from the 20s in my safe.

  • I'm not of age to buy one but I'd love to get a short double barrel, seems like a good thing to have

  • You can only go so short if you're in the U.S. and want to avoid an assload of paperwork. 18" barrel, 26" overall. I prefer pumps myself.

  • Oh I know you can't make them too short lol I shot clay pigeons with s pump shotgun once, really fun but I like the simplicity of break actions

  • I like all guns, lol. I just hate the length restrictions because any halfwit with a hacksaw can cut a gun down, and Randy the Robber doesn't care if it's illegal.

Haha, it's really that easy? Not that I'd ever do it

  • Yeah dude. Anything that doesn't need to be timed (recoil or gas-operated semi-autos) can be shortened with 30 minutes of free time and a hacksaw. I cut my Mossberg's barrel down (19", so still legal) with a pipe-clamp and a hacksaw. Did my buddy's the same way.

  • Oh, so it's legal to do as long as the barrel meets length requirements? I just might try that

  • Yep, so long as the barrel stays 18" or longer, and your overall length remains 26" or longer. triple-check your measurements! Violation of the 1934 NFA by manufacturing an unregistered "short barreled shotgun" is worth 10 years in prison, and possession of the same is another 10 years. So be sure you stay legal. Also, a pipe-clamp around the barrel will help you make a much cleaner cut. Once it's cut, shoot a slug through it to debur the inside of the muzzle.
