How are you able to understand a message or a tale in any song if you don't have the mental capacity to think critically and go beyond what other close minded people tell you hip-hop is about?

Simple, I don't listen to it or them. Every time anything in that genre comes on I just change the channel. And that's when I don't have my own player jacked into the car. 98% of everything I am forced to hear in movies/shows/etc is as I said previous. There may be decent stuff out there, but it's not something I will go looking up or hunting down. RvB and RWBY songs are the only exceptions as the majority of the songs are rock and the few that are not have but a sliver of hip-hop style (10 seconds in a 2 min+ song).

If you don't like hip-hop, that's fair. I don't have any issue with that, but shouting off that it's stupid when you haven't even attempted to explore it screams irony. I grew up on metal and jazz, but discovering hip-hop at 16-ish made me realise what music is really about.
All in all, I don't think you accurately answered my question
As I said, I have, but all I ever hear is what I have been saying. Call it corruption or bias, unfair, whatever. The vast majority ruins the appeal and appearance of the little that is not aforementioned.
-
Edited by Psyntifik: 6/11/2015 4:29:24 AMThe problem is that it isn't the little. Conscious hip-hop makes up such a large percentage of the genre that what you hear isn't even the tip of the iceberg. The issue is that people would sooner slate an art form than acknowledge it true potential. And that kind of thing only spreads bias and corruption.

Exactly. So blame the idiots that insist in playing the same 5 songs on the radio and anywhere else, not me.
-
I blame both of you, to be honest. But it isn't the radios fault that you lack initiative.

Lol I just love how defensive you are getting over this. Hashing someone over their opinion. You want to bring race and such into it too? I stated my opinion, which was a joke in itself (even though everything else is true, I don't care for it), and you took it personally. I'm not calling you names, so don't be so rude. I even said myself "call it what you like," showing I don't care what others say. Lol I don't see the other disagree-ers getting hashed this much. Is it because I hurt your feelings with the joke?

Edited by Psyntifik: 6/11/2015 5:02:55 AMIt has nothing to do with your opinion. It's about abolishing the stigma that is attached to rap music. Ignorance is just a pet peeve. I get a little up in arms about it here and there.
adding "on the matter" to the end of my last post might have made it less offensive. But there's no point in editing it in now
It was a joke... An old one at that. I never said everything about it's being and everyone who listens to it are trash, I just made a play on words. You should have known I was not serious with the "lol" starting the reply...

You went on to say they were talentless hacks who can't make real music.
