Look, I have to say, I really love the aesthetics of the Celestial Nighthawk helmet. I mean, I REALLY love the look of it. I also really hate the fact that I lose 2 Golden Gun shots if I upgrade it fully!
So yeah, huh, I was wondering if I'm the only "idiot" that doesn't want to upgrade the helmet because of that? I'm not saying I won't try to get another one and upgrade that one, but for now I'm keeping mine as it is!
Oh, and show me your cool looking Guardians, I want to see them!
EDIT: I am strictly talking about PvE here. I am aware of the options in PvP. ;)
EDIT2: This post is very old. I already got 2 Nighthawks and did exactly as I said I would in the OP. Thanks.

If your a pvper then don't upgrade it. But pve it's a no brainer.
-
I didn't upgrade my purifier robes for a long time because I didn't want to be know as the scrub who uses self Rez. Lol I don't use it and bought the perk any way. Your situation is different because it actually effects your playing. I thought about not upgrading that perk. Maybe in the year 2 version if they have one it will give you the choice between 4 shots or one that does 6x damage. Combine achylophage and night hawk. :)
-
I used to use symbiote helm in pve now I only use the nighthawk in pve if I need it dead it gets the job done any yellow bar enemy goes down super quick.
-
I mean, your not really losing one, your gaining 3, and combining them into one shot.
-
Just get 2 of them. One for the upgrade, one for aesthetics.
-
Upgrade it, I dropped crota in 1 shot with it, knocked hos shield down no problem plus it helps take huge chunks off of bosses plus it has a hidden perk where when u jump ur shots are closer together, try it out...jump once and shoot at a wall with and without the nighthawk equipped u will notice a massive difference
-
Yes you lose two shots, but that one shot is the equivalent of taking 6 shots. You can one shot kill 99% of yellow bar enemies with that. (Usually you would need all 4 shots while using Symbiote to do that). If you spec yourself to have the lower cool down and have high intellect and discipline for the grenade kills you get your super so often it doesn't even matter that you lost two shots. I tend to use Nighthawk more on bosses or nightfalls (when there are more yellow bar enemies). Other then that I use Symbiote. I love the look of both helmets myself. I also like to thing my Hunter is pretty cool looking if you wanna check it out.

I promise.... the 1 shot 6x damage is epic. 32 PoE... one shots the "Important Target" Crota's End normal? One shots crota's shield Combine this with combustion and fire into a crowd... many many orbs. Trust me. It has lots of utility in PvE. Extremely powerful when encountering those yellow health bar enemies.
-
I promise you, upgrading it is great since you can kill any enemy with one shot and deal a huge amount of damage to bosses
-
You do know that if you fully upgrade the helmet, you can..... Take it off too. It's kind of a point less helmet without its perk. I guess to each their own but it seems like a waste to do that.
-
I agree I prefer the 4 shot helmet to the 1 shot but the look of celestial is awesome.
-
So now that I have a second one, last bubble not upgraded, I LOVE IT FOR PVP: 3 shots and it brings my Intellect to 544. I call out "GOIN FOR THE GOLD!" and my team follows with cover fire and orb pick up. The competition has no chance if I get a few grenade kills or pick up friendly orbs.

Edited by Ockey Chit: 8/25/2015 1:21:17 PM
So yeah, huh, I was wondering if I'm the only "idiot" that doesn't want to upgrade the helmet because of that?
You're not the only one, but that doesn't make you any less of an idiot. You should upgrade it because •One shot most enemies. Including - Deathsinger Swordbearer Crota's shield 90% of majors And all non majors •makes GG viable for boss fights
you should upgrade one and when you get another one, leave it alone. You could always rebuy armor when TTK comes out
You lose 2 but it adds up to 6 in one bullet
-
The acliophage symbiote (most likely spelled wrong) gives you 4 golden gun shots, use that if you got it. The celestial nighthawk is ideal in PvE against bosses, or an enemy that's challenging and you don't want to waste any heavy ammo on it.
-
I use nighthawk for pvp I like being able to use it to stop panic slam Titans or warlocks plus you can have combustion and keyhole at the same time
-
Get 2. 1 with 1 golden gun shot to kill ultras, the other without the upgrade so you have shitload of intellect.
-
When the guardians use celestial nighthawk in crucible.
-
You're not an idiot. I know players who didn't upgrade SUROS all the way because they like the fast, precise firing over Focused Fire in PvP.
-
Its a great helm but it is actually a pvp disadvantage.
-
It's a beast especially if you have ... x2 Hunters (with it equipped) X1 Titan (Defender + WoD makes Lights from Damage) You can practically trade off one other 1 shooting lemon bars. Comes in very handy during PoE and Nightfalls.
-
You can one shot high level reavers, something you can't do with 4 GG shots.
-
Edited by Wheeze: 6/12/2015 1:36:29 PMDude. Upgrade the helmet. It does more damage than two Gjallarhorn rockets. Hilarity will ensue. You won't regret it. Edit: also, my Hunter is sexy as hell. Looks good, good armor perks, great stats. 100% Int, 100% Discipline? Yes please.
-
It is well worth it. It's the only thing that makes Gunslinger worthwhile in PvE.
-
Yeah it's meant to beast bosses. Use the symbiote if you want multiple shots, it gives you an extra one.
-
My titan looks sick
