I actually think they have put this much thought into everything. And that is the problem for most fans. It is so convoluted to derive (especially for most of their gamers) that it is all passed over. I find when I play it now, I try to be more observant - the game is telling a story. It is just very abstract (light vs. dark). The thread openers post reeked of being daft, but actually began to present a coherent image of Bungie's crazy ideas.
