You paid to unlock the content available within the game, do a task, reap the rewards. If you're not willing to complete the task then why should you get rewarded? ToO is a PvP endgame, much as PoE, Crota and VoG are PvE endgames. Therefore those that are either skilled or fortunate enough to go 9-0 and reach the Lighthouse deserve to be rewarded with unique items. And before you try tearing my argument apart, I've never even tried ToO, yet have no problem with not having any of the gear weapons obtained through it.
