Everything I already own, plus the Taken King ... Or:
Buy $59.95 for Destiny - original game
Plus $39.95 for expansions I and II
Plus $39.95 for The Taken King 'pre-order'
-------------------wait for it------------------
That's $140 pretty much for the same thing as noobs can get for $60.
Thanks Bungie. I've enjoyed your game. Seriously. It's a lot of fun. I'm not kidding. Check my hours played. More than most, I can assure you that.
And, what's my thanks and appreciation for supporting your game along the way?
Getting screwed over to the tune of more than DOUBLE THE PRICE that someone will pay today.
How the hell does this make sense?
You should actually honour your most loyal customers with The Taken King as a FREEBIE, or at the very least , a DEEP Discount. (Maybe $15 instead of $20, but certainly not increase it to $40, that's just plain back-asswards).
"Here you go guardian. As a token of our appreciation for sticking with us through the first year, for buying the base game, for getting the first two expansions (which may or may not have been disc-locked content), for playing through the glitches as a live feedback forum for our programming errors, for the buffs and the nerfs you've endured, for the lag and for the heavy ammo we took from you every time you spawned... We would like to present you, as a gift,
Your own Edition of The Taken King.
I'm not butt-hurt by what's been paid so far. I'm f-ing choked that a newb will get all that and more for $60.00, and that it will cost me another $40 on top of what's already been paid, just to keep up with the BUNDLE-BABIES of 2015. Should be $15 max (free preferred) for the players who already have all the prerequisites.
BUMP if you agree with even one part of this.
--- out ---
EDIT:
Geezus. For those of you who agreed, thanks for understanding my point. For the rest, here's an example:
You all have cell phones. If you don't, try to imagine having one.
Buy the latest phone. Then pay for an upgrade. Then pay for another upgrade. Then pay for another upgrade.
Your buddy goes and buys the upgraded upgraded upgraded phone, AND GETS THE ORIGINAL PHONE YOU PAID FOR IN THE FIRST PLACE GIVING TO HIM FOR FREE AS WELL... For less than half the price too!! and as a freaking bonus, he also gets the charger, the headphones, the protective case and limited edition sticker to proudly display on the back of his Kia Soul as well !!!!
Does that help even one of you naysayers get it?
Edit 2:
For those that say "Isn't this how all games do it?", the correct response is (I'll succumb to Godwin's Law for some of this I'm afraid):
Did slavery come to an end?
Did the holocaust come to an end?
Did the USSR come to and end?
Did the wall in Germany get torn down?
Pick a metaphor... The choice should be your own.
Just because that's how it's always been done, simply does not 'de facto' make it right!
Edit 3:
Your responses have been mixed. Fine. My post will not be all or end all. I appreciate what most of you had to say. For clarity I do not compare the edit 2 metaphors directly to this video game. But, to be offer a piece of advice to those who thought I meant something else:

I believe that a company this big and profitable can do better than the companies that came before it.
There will always be change. Who will do it first?
Edit 4:
You'll be impressed... I've listened and here is my last ( probably not) contribution to the argument:
Bungie can rename the DLC to be
$39.95 for the DIGITAL BEND OVER EDITION* for those of you who already have the original game and the first two expansions.
We will send your guardian an in-game bottle of lube. It will be waiting for you in the special orders.
* There will be no reach-arounds or discounts offered.
Edit 5:
Please stop buying next year's car at half of last year's pricing!!
Edit 6:
There were Alpha players
There were Beta players
Then came Day-1-ers
We can call the next gen the 'Vets'
Along comes Xmas Noobs
Since then we've had a few Kinder-guardians
But this latest generation will forever be known as:
THE BUNDLE- BABIES
I do not take credit for this nickname, the original poster is down there, buried somewhere in the responses to this thread. Go ahead and find him/her, they deserve all the praise.
If my post succeeds in nothing else... BUNDLE-BABIES SHALL LIVE ON FOREVER!!!!!

EDIT 8: Looks like my rant was 'all' right on the mark. The failure on the price point. The failure in exclusive content. The failure on needing to rebuy items I already own.
Many Thank to Eurogamer for taking the time to interview Luke Smith, and get to the bottom of all these inequities.
We shall see what the weekly update holds for the year-one owners of the game. I bet it's not much!
-
I'm curious why people are still playing, seriously it's over and the elders are leaving the game, heck I bet Xur will leave and play a different game as well, he's tired of the bitching and complaining about gjalli this, gjalli that, give me this. He's probably rich and headed to Hawaii for vacation and I'm going with...😎

Bungie won't be getting anymore of my money. They're business practices have become beyond asinine and anyone who tries to defend them are the reason why gaming has become the cess pool that it is.
-
It's business, not charity.
-
Edited by Magnus: 6/20/2015 5:43:50 PMOh my god you're such an idiot. I hope bungie forces all your characters to carry a bottle of lube at all times. During random gunfights your character stops all what he is doing, drops his pants, and applies lube.
-
Shut up Meg!
-
-
Agreed and not buying it, will hopefully give me some time to spend on other games
-
Agreed with all accept for the "free TTK" part
-
-
Games have always done 'game of the year' & collectors editions. If you want you can buy destiny second hand for $10. Games companies have to do this sort of thing to keep the industry going.
-
Bumping this, 100% agree. I've enjoyed this game tons, hell it even took me away from a series I've played for years (and I only buy one game a year and grind the hell out of it). So a price change would be the only reason to continue on with destiny considering the new games coming out this year.
-
I like it
-
Bump, some people are blind to abuse.
-
Word.

Biggest problems i have with the game is that bungie dont have a clue what they are doing, each dlc screws over the current economy i.e. shards/energies were needed for gear, then you had the radiant energies etc & now with H.O.W the gear is at 331 level already & requires another new currency (etheric light) to ascend them to the max level, the economy in destiny is the worst ive ever seen & only god knows how that,ll change in the future. If i purchased the game today i could buy the game & expansions for half the price i originally paid & be at level 32 on 3 characters in 2/3 days simply by gaming solo. Destiny will go down as a colossal failure before too long if this keeps up, theres no way a game this flawed can survive a 10 yr plan (even tho the fanboys will defend it). There is no balance to it at all & i simply cannot keep playing a game that is going backwards with each dlc/expansion thats released.
-
Edited by ihatemyhonda: 6/22/2015 2:53:47 AMWhat I don't understand is the price. The first two are priced at $20 each or $35 for both. So $40 for ONE DLC doesn't make sense to me unless it has just as much content as the first two combined.
-
You sure bitch alot. I've been here since the alpha and really i dont care. I'll have a year of playing. Yes there have been problems but every game there is some glitch, error or bug that everyone figures out. Its called economics. Do you really think people are going to pickup destiny a year later and shell out the cost of buying the original, 2 expansions and taken king. Its their way of getting more of a player base. Your completely retarded if you think they would give taken king away for free. It took time and money to make. What if they dont get a huge turnout for their bundle? Thats where the rest of us paying the $40 comes in.
-
Bungie is a -blam!-ing scam artist that lie so much about everything and most of there games are exactly the -blam!-ing same. EVERY Halo is the SAME -blam!-ING game! i will NEVER buy another Halo title. Bungie favors laggers. how hard is it to boot a player from the game world that is obviously lagging and they let the -blam!-er play the entire match lagging. complete shit developers if u ask me
-
You know, I'd have to say if I were making money for a living (which I am not, I just got out of high school and have had a job for 3 years) I would agree that we are getting screwed over. But I can't since I don't make money for a living yet, I just preordered the collectors edition for the extra content and I'm fine with it. Pretty sure when I am living on my own or have a wife and kids it would be different though.
-
It's silly to expect TTK for free, but a better price point and item selection for day 1 players is needed to make this comparable
-
Bump maybe not free but Im definitely not going to end up paying $140 for a game some noon will get for $60
-
I bought an LED TV when they came out for 3-4 times as much as you can get em now. So should I be bitchin??
-
I actually agree with this. 15 bucks max. It's really a money grab at 40. The two expansions cost more than the actual game? That's not right.
-
biggest bump ever
-
I guess you've never purchased a car...... #depreciation
-
I just paid £43 for the original digital collector's edition today just so I could have the legendary ghost when I already had the normal game, I guess being absolutely dripping with cash has it's advantages :) Don't buy the expansion if you can't afford it, peasants!!!!!
