I love Destiny. I've been playing since Day One and I own both expansions. It's the game that I put the most time into this year, and I can easily consider myself a hardcore Destiny player, even thought I might not be as good at the game as some of my fellow players. I was ecstatic when info on The Taken King leaked early, and was downright giddy during the reveal at Sony's press conference. I couldn't wait to find out more, so I checked your website to absorb what I could. That's where I read about all the different versions of the Taken King, and I just can't help but feel hurt while reading through it.
We have to pay $40 for the expansion? Oookay. Well, I'm hoping that I can trust you guys to make it worth the money. But then I read that for $80, a new player gets everything, including exclusive exotic class items, shaders, and emotes. I'm sorry, but how is that fair? I've already dropped $95 into this game, and if I want to get the expansion, I have to pay another $40 and I'm still not getting all the content?
The way this is set up, the people who have to pay the most for the new expansion are the people who have already paid the most for the game. Why am I paying an extra $55 for this game if I'm not even going to get all the content? You make it seem like I'll be better off skipping Destiny 2 for a year because not only would I be saving a huge amount of cash, but I'd also be getting extra stuff to "reward" my patience. I mean, you've never even released extra dances before, let alone exotic class items. Why don't we, your most dedicated players, get them with our purchase that inherently costs more?
Yes, I did read about the VIP rewards, and yes, they did make me smile. I'm definitely excited to see what kind of Sparrow you're giving us! Unfortunately, I can't help but feel a bit ripped off anyway. Not only does a newer player pay less than I have already paid, but I still have to pay an extra $40 and still miss out on content. That just doesn't seem right.
Right now I'm kind of banking on the "and more at launch" part of the VIP Rewards.
During a stream today Deej said you guys actually read these, and judging by House of Wolves, I definitely believe him. Thank you for your time. I hope you understand that my intention isn't to complain. I just feel wronged by all this. But hey, The Taken King looks great so far. I'm loving all the new additions and I can't wait to see what else you have in store.

Wall Street meets gaming get used to it. Don't have to like it but, get used to it. Just say'n. The data is in and this business model is looking like it's here to stay.

I've been a destiny player since day one bungie! DAY ONE!!!!! I have paid and played both dlc's before taken king- yet I feel punished for doing so, by the time I get what is being sold as a collectors edition for $80 I will have paid $160.00, why am I, a supporter of destiny since the beta, getting the short end of the stick? should I wait for destiny year 3 so I wont be doing this again?? If not for players like me and anyone who supported this game through its many faults it would not be the success it is today. Thank you to whoever decided it was ok to rip off all your first supporters!!!!!! Destiny is and I'm sure will be an amazing game with more potential then most on the market but thanks to my wallet getting smaller with every new turn I'm not sure if I want to be a part of what it will grow into, and that sucks!!!!!
-
I think bungie just wants money. EX. Is anyone but me having the problem where if u buy a DLC on the Xbox one it's making u buy it again on the 360. That's stupid. Because of it I'm spending twice as much money on the game than what I should be. Also now I can't buy anything else I want like Halo 5. I'm pissed off the fact I'm spending double what I should be.
-
Well stated and I completely agree with you! Bungie does not care about loyal or dedicated fans. Also they lie continuously, stating promises they never intend to keep. The last three exotic helmet engrams I received were all Light Beyond Nemesis... WTF, bungie?!?!?! You state RNG is improved, but yet the evidence remains that you are full of it! Why do you make claims and promises that you cannot keep?? Are you politicians?? Are you run or directed by the Federal Government??? Do you like screwing over your dedicated fans, which have supported you and helped your franchise grow??? It seems as though, at least one of those answers is a big YES! Especially, since you seem to be focused on generating more profits, instead of keeping true Destiny players happy, by keeping your promises and fixing your broken ass programming and game, which is supposed to be a ten year legacy called Destiny. Also, where the HELL is the progression? New Destiny players are on par with veteran destiny players, besides VIP rewards, which I never flipping received... WOW, and all year one activities are completely pointless now! Good job, making a majority of the game absolutely worthless, just like all the weapons and gear we all worked are asses off in preparation for The Taken King, aka the TAKEN RIPOFF. Thanks alot for the screw job, Bungie, since all day one players paid over 100 dollars for only a 60 dollar worth game now.

everybody keeps talking about Destiny DLC. i don't see the taken king as DLC. its a brand new game rebranded, remodelled and very good stuff that didn't work has been improved or taken out and new ways of playing have been put in i did wonder about the price if it was just DLC but its not its a whole new experience and i love it i was initially peeved that all my legendary and exotic gear was redundant but its a fresh challenge and i'm now in the groove i do feel for those that bought HOW and did not finish it i think it should have been released as destiny 2 and the accounts linked so that people could still play old school if they wanted to well done Bungie. i hope i stay alive long enough to experience the 10 year plan for Destiny. Stormcaller rocks

You guys don't get it do you? The way this is marketed is absolutely perfect the way it is. The goal after all is to make as much money as possible so tell me guardians.. Why would they lower the price of the dlc for you just because you've been playing longer? To entice you to buy it? YOU'RE GOING TO BUY IT ANYWAY and they know that. Grow up kids, Stop living in the fantasy world and understand the way the real world works.
-
I'm hugely disappointed that I have to keep paying for DLC that should already be apart of the game. I love destiny but I have no respect for the developers. Year one was alright and I kinda enjoyed it but there were a lot of boredom involved in the year. Taken King shouldn't be a $40 DLC, it should be free as a result of a pretty lame year one.
-
Bungie does not care about the players. When changing or releasing content, Bungie does not even consider or care about how it will effect their player base. The ONLY thing they give serious thought and consideration is how can they get as much money as possible while delivering the smallest amount of content possible.
-
Unfair!? I'd say more like extortion or a ponzi scheme...this video explains a lot... https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=bD80DQv2o44

I paid for the collectors edition and honestly it's not exactly worth it, the dances are alright but nothing special and the class items are useful for leveling up your subclass but is stuck at 170 light so only useful for a short time.

Edited by gallp13: 9/17/2015 3:01:39 PMBeta and yr 1 here .... Hi :) Bought legendary TTK for Aud$70 net of trade in Very happy with product and price and hope this deal is offered annually. Paid same (at times more) for CoD each year.
-
And I bet there is a raid and strike we're unable to join unless "with friends" sucks we pay the money but blocks are put up to enjoy it! That new game in November gonna take me away from the dictatorship.
-
What Hingis should do is give us the next two dlcs for 10 dollars rather than twenty again or maybe for free thanks to the bad year one dlcs (all though house of wolves was aight) and for the price of this new expansion( and for those of you who haven't playe or bought taken king I strongly recommend it I easily have already 20hrs of playing it and still haven't finished it)
-
What makes even less sense, is the fact that I can't even buy TTK as an add-on for 360. So, you mean to tell me I have to return my copy of Destiny to get TTK? This is the dumbest shit I've ever seen for a game.

Money grubbing whores=bungie
-
Those gear are to get people for new players. The old content loses value like anything else. They are trying to change he game for the better so they're not going to sell old content with horrid reviews and whatnot. They need to entice new people and add to the Destiny gaming population. Etc etc.
-
Makes sense, why pay for all year1 content as it is, for the most part, rendered obsolete by TTK. Why not just admit it's a do over, include vanilla destiny and DLC's with it and make it ALL 40$. The money isn't what bothers me as much as the content I bought being pretty much useless without TTK
