Why would they kick him when it's too late to bring in a friend? I don't know why people do stupid things... The drops happen at the exact same time as skolas dies, before the modifiers clear and potentially before you dismantle a single mine. There is no way he killed skolas with them and missed a drop if he was going to get one, it's literally impossible.
