Here is my take on the situation- I have no issues with the bundle price of TTK. Stuff depreciates in value over time, and this game is no exception. I do, however, have an issue with the asking price of the DLC, and with the fact that there are in game exotics for the Collector Edition. Firstly, the DLC price is too high. Bungie has shown that they are unable to deliver content equal to their asking price. This DLC was a perfect opportunity for them to prove that they can create a well-thought out, fairly priced(10-20 dollars) DLC. Instead, it just goes to show that Bungie will continue to deliver over-hyped, poorly planned dlc until this game dies. Secondly, the ingame exotics for those who buy the collector's edition are dumb. The fact that these things are given to people who either just started supporting the game, or who were forced to shell out 80 bucks for some content that they already own is absurd. Vets are basically screwed in this area, as they have to shell out 80 dollars for content that they mostly already own. New players get the advantage, as they haven't supported destiny up to this point, and haven't spent any money. Essentially, these items need to be included in both the collector's edition and the veteran's packs. From what Bungie has seen in the past, I doubt that either of the issues will even be mentioned. Bungie won't learn until it starts to lose players.

  • Are you sure about in-game exotics? Anyways, it's pretty stupid, given some simple math, how much the new players have to pay for the Year 1 content even if it goes down in price. Since TTK is worth 40, that puts the Year 1 content at $20. We had to pay $140 for that, meaning the value of the item went down to one seventh of the price. Not three quarters, not half, not a third, not a quarter, not a sixth, a goddamn seventh of the price. If I went and bought a 5 year old game at the store now, it wouldn't be worth one-seventh of its original price. It's ridiculous.

  • I think the value is more like: Destiny Vanilla $20, First 2 DLCs $20 and TTK $40. Everything bundled together comes down to $60

  • No, 20+20+40 does not equal 60. 20+40 does, and TTK is 40, leaving 20.

  • Erm, thanks I can do the math. Now do you understand the concept of bundle?

  • If it's a bundle where you get part of it for one seventh of the price, I understand it, but I don't necessarily approve of it.

  • I don't really have a problem with others getting a deal on content this old. If bungie wants to sell it to them for super cheap, they can go ahead. Just more people to experience the train wreck that is destiny. I think the deal is 20 dollars for each year 1 content (20*3=60) and TTK comes free as the "buy 3 get one free deal".

It's a total of $60 for all of the year 1 content (vanilla Destiny, TDB, HoW) plus the Taken King. The issue with that deal is we already bought 3 for a higher price and got jackshit for free.

  • Yes if ppl really wanted to get bungies attention, a lot of ppl refusing to buy the dlc would do it. But I'm still on board. I'm planning on buying it and giving it a chance. If it's really bad, things may change with me and destiny, but hopefully won't go to that
