You can already buy vanilla destiny for 40 bucks. When you but something when it's first released, you will pay full price. As a product is out longer it depreciates in value. The demand for Destiny is a fraction of what it was last September hence the price drop to sell more to new customers.
It's no different than paying 200 for a brand new just released smartphone, then they give the thing away for free 6 months later on black Friday.
If someone offered you the chance to buy an unreleased game 6 months ahead of everyone else for an extra 30 bucks would you complain?

Fair enough. Although if the actual game we now have was the advertised in honest detail I would have not pre-ordered Destiny. I would have at least waited until this year (or longer) or not bought at all.
