The flayer have one of each element as a shield (arc, solar, void) so they "are of every kind." They are masterminds and intelligence because they infiltrate the warmind Rasputin on Mars. They work together and you fight all three of them at the same time which I guess would mean that they are a pack unbroken and a "hive mind." They are a doorway because they access and somehow break into Rasputin's system (I guess). They aren't warriors because they are so small compared to the average Cabal warriors but they are scientists because of their extreme intelligence and telekinetic abilities.
