If you honestly believe that every game which is produced is a labor of love and profit never comes into consideration then you are extremely naive. If you actually believe that there aren't more people like Luke Smith in the business then you are saddly mistaken. If you've never opened your mouth and inserted your foot into it, then by all means continue to vent. If you've never tried to snow somebody by making like you knew what you were talking about, but got busted, then hold up your hand. And after this disaster you still don't know why DeeJ has a job, well then you'll never get it.

  • Yeah people have figured that out but if we sit back and stay idle about our disagreement then the Dlc after TTK they will say Hummm let's go higher and higher no ones complaining.

  • There's nothing wrong with people being upset, but we need to be realistic that video games are big business and that people do say some really stupid things that they shouldn't. Bungie has a lot of egg on its face right now and they will have to put a whole lot of work into winning their fans back.

  • I agree, but at the time of this post there's been no word on what they intend to do. I'm for civil discussion, but I feel their stance on their veteran's offerings coupled with Luke's comments is pretty messed up. Are there more debs like him out there? Sure, but to my knowledge they're keeping their attitude to themselves. Besides, just because he's not alone doesn't make it anymore acceptable. Have I ever screwed up. Believe it. Got called out on it too. It's called accountability, and if we want them to see us as something other than brainless chimps throwing money at a screen, we have to hold them accountable, and show them how much we appreciate their attitude toward their community.

If you honestly believe devs that put profit before consumer trust, quality content, and game support are worth your time and money then you're a GIANT -blam!-ING SUCKER. Stop shilling for worthless money sucking vampires, you goddamn idiot.

  • You're clearly out of touch with the real world. Do some research on the amount of cash the gaming industry rakes in year after year.

What does it matter? What matters is YOU give bad companies money to -blam!- you over. That is all that is happening and somehow you're so brainwashed as to go "this is completely normal and okay." Companies have no power. You have all the power, but you give it away for nothing. Stop settling for less when you can have it all.

You're such a tool. Maybe Bungie will let you pay quadruple what their next "expansion" is worth? Wouldn't that be nice? Spineless shill.

Why would I do that? I spent money on it. I'm not a retard who destroys his things in fits of rage, but I'm also not a corporate slave. Unlike you.

  • If you think capitalism and corporate greed are the same thing, you need to wake up.

  • You might want to follow your own advice. Capitalism and corporate greed go hand in hand.

  • And you need to work on your reading comprehension. I didn't say that greed and capitalism are mutually exclusive, only that they are not the same thing. Capitalism can exist without excessive greed. Plenty of businesses make money without milking their customers for everything they can get.

When your customers are happy, they will gladly keep giving you money. When they aren't happy, they stop giving it to you. As of now, I, as well as many others, will not be purchasing TTK. If they add a collectors edition for veterans, I will purchase the TTK. As of now, they're losing potential sales.

  • Omigosh. Stop defending abhorrent behavior. Anyone who has worked with people knows when people are upset, it's the worst possible time to go full-on smart ass. Luke was wrong in the interview, period. He came off like the love child of Nancy Grace and Bill O'Reilly. Maybe DeeJ has a hard job, but he makes it harder than it has to be. There is nothing conciliatory about his interaction with the community. His attitude is "I know what you want" and "take it or leave it". It doesn't matter how upset people get, he gets his jollies trolling them it seems. So people are mean to him. So sometimes they deserve a slap. You can't do it. Every one of us goes about our adult lives meeting people who could use a firm slap. We can't do it either, and we don't. There are consequences. In the interview, Luke behaves as if he was impervious to customer feedback. He spoke like he didn't give a crap, and for all I know, he doesn't. Seems like he's on the same bowling team as DeeJ, I guess.

  • I'm not defending his behavior, the man definitely came across as an asshole. The point of my post was to say that we've all done some dumb things at one time and that this also is big business. If you have any doubts about the business part of video gaming then checkout the current issue of Game Informer. There's an interesting article about the ongoing battle between Ubisoft and Patrice Desilets, the man behind Assassin's Creed.

  • I understand where you're coming from, but for me this is far less about the cost of a game and far more about the disgusting hubris of DeeJ and Luke with regards to their interaction with the community. These are the faces of Bungie, and if this is the level of contempt they hold for us, I for one am losing my appetite for the whole project. I'd go as far to say I really don't much care what surprise DeeJ is alluding to for his weekly update. In simpler terms, I love Diet Coke. No one at Coke knows me or cares about me personally, but they also haven't gone out of their way to gouge me or drive me away from their product. More than that, they often run deals to help promote my loyalty to their product. I'm a very happy customer, and I drink nothing else. DeeJ works so hard to prop up his edgy and hipster persona he often does so at the expense of the customer. He knows when he quips off all smart ass a bunch of fanboys will cheer. Real school yard stuff there. If that makes him feel big that's cool, but I can't understand how that's good business. Luke's comment probably had its origins in the Bungie offices. "When they see these dances, they're gonna throw money at the screen!" Probably got big laughs, too. But there are some jokes you can tell in public, some you can tell in large groups, and some you should only tell in private. We all know where this line fits. You can tell he was just looking for a place to use it too... The interviewer was moving on, and Luke brought him back to the point just to get that line in. It was forced, and unfortunately for Bungie, incredibly tone deaf in the current environment. "Throw money at the screen" perfectly fits the narrative that Bungie is nothing more than a group of money-grubbing corporate-types posing as "one of us".
