Parts 1 and 2 are posted above for those curious enough to check out my ideas for a future character class and a new type of elemental damage (both with accompanying lore).
Today I was grinding away at bounties as usual, and enjoying it. However, no matter how much we guardians enjoy Destiny there seems to be a bit of monotony that sets in; especially when doing Vanguard Bounties. It really hit me as I was doing patrol missions on the moon. How could Bungie spice up these bounties, make them more interesting? The little light bulb in my head slowly worked up a glow, blew a fuse, and then lit up brightly. Why not let us guardians combine bounties, morph them into a Frankenstein's monster of increased objectives, difficulty, and XP/rewards?
Let's start with a small example first. Everyday there is a Vanguard Bounty that directs us to complete 6 of a planet or moon's patrol missions. Fine. Easy enough. But sometimes it is a bit too easy or repetitive. How about we just pick up more than one patrol mission at once? If I pick up a Materials Mission and then immediately pick up a VIP Kill Mission, then they should combine to create a MUCH stronger VIP that drops a certain material that must be taken to a certain drop point. Or, how about if I pick up two Kill Enemies Missions? Then I have to kill more enemies, which are located in a certain place and are stronger, and without dying. What if I pick up 3 Kill Enemies Missions? Then one of those "the enemy moves against each other" battles begins, you must eliminate a significant number of them depending on the size of your fire team, and do so without dying.
This could get really interesting really fast, and the combinations would be so fun and varied. VIP Kill + Kill Enemies= multiple VIPs in one place to fight. Materials + Scan Area = scan designated areas for passive materials the NPCs need. Scan Object + VIP = VIP is guarding an object you must scan after defeating the enemy OR you scan an object for a relic weapon (like a scorch cannon) and must use it to defeat a VIP. Materials + Materials + Materials= 3 different materials must be collected and combined in a certain amount to build a beacon or other object. VIP + VIP + VIP= you are transported to a mini level (like the Archon Slayer on the moon) that you must complete without dying or you are sent back to patrol with no reward and the patrol missions are lost (obviously should be the most difficult and most rewarding combination).
Something similar can be done to actual bounties as well. This may even be a new way to unlock future, top-tier exotics. Combine all 6 Vanguard bounties for a day, complete the ridiculously difficult resulting bounty, and then unlock a bounty that will reward you an exotic from a new DLC for your troubles. It could even be done for Crucible bounties, but that might get a tad too difficult or specific in a very chaotic and overly-competitive part of the game. But, who knows? Maybe there are enough PvP masochists out there willing to endure it.
Let me know what you guys think in the comments. If you have your own ideas, post them on your own, and then link them in the comments. Until part 4, fellow guardians!
