Well first was the "and more" from the preorder for TTK. But I did some digging and found out that NPCs in the Tower will be giving players items as well. I don't have the exact link where I saw it, but it has been mentioned since E3.
Edit: Here's a [url=http://attackofthefanboy.com/videos/destiny-season-pass-holders-get-the-white-glove-treatment-with-the-taken-king/]link[/url] but it's not the exact one. They mention "other things in the tower."

See part of the problem is this critic way of releasing information. If they actually said what was going on they wouldn't get such a back lash.
