Deej is the PR man. It's his job to assuage any anger and dissatisfaction from fans and players. He gets paid a lot of money to come up with creative ways to make you feel loved and appreciated, keeping a veil over the truth, which is that the ONLY thing that matters to Bungie is how many of you will shell out money for their product.
Smith, for whatever reason, chose the worst possible moment to reveal his honest feelings about the player base. The company does not love you. They probably don't even like you. But they will try their hardest to make you believe otherwise. Smith went off-message and created a nightmare, simply because he told the truth.
People will react one of two ways. Some with shrug, and say "whatever, just give me more content". Others will finally say they've had enough, that it's one thing to pay a premium for sparse content, but not when worms like this simply presume you'll "throw money" at Activision/Bungie even though they regard you with disdain.
Make your choice.
