Damn! I got suckered out of about $200 over a few months and learned my lesson.
Free to play games really should to known as PAY TO PLAY as opposed to the traditional PAY TO OWN games.
Warframe on the console is one of the few examples of this model not being outrageous. I'd really like to see a PAY TO OWN version of that game in the future though. At least Warframe gives paying players direct feedback over the games direction.
