Chapter 8 - [Part II] It's Spreading
Crimson shot directly after Harrison, while Harrison himself charged in return. The were running full speed at each other. Once Crimson got so close, even giving off a loud shriek, Harrison activated his armors thrusters to boost into the air, then used his Fist of Havoc on Crimson. Did they take anything away from Harrison? At all?
Crimson recoiled backwards and fell to the ground. Harrison jumped on top of it and began to stab it in the head with his two, signature knives. Crimson quickly grabbed Harrison with one hand, held him up, and launched him over over twenty feet. Harrison recovered from the throw quickly, and immediately sprinted back after Crimson, while Crimson did the same. Just before they met, Harrison dropped to the ground and slid under Crimsons legs, stabbing his knife in the left leg, allowing Harrison to pull himself up onto Crimsons back.
Crimson tried to shake Harrison off, but Harrison wrapped one of his arms around Crimsons neck, while his other arm was being used to stab his head with his extra knife. In a moment of panic, Crimson leapt into the air over fourth feet and turned it's back to the ground as if it was going to squash Harrison. While in mid-air, Harrison somehow got Crimson on the bottom and continuously stabbed him in the throat and the heart. They were about to hit the ground, so Harrison used that to his advantage. He took his knife and stabbed Crimson straight through its heart, and once they hit the ground, the force of Harrison pressing against the knife caused it to push straight into Crimsons body.
Harrison quickly rolled off of Crimson afterwards, and watched as it squirmed and shrieked in pain. It eventually stopped after Harrison took the other knife that was still stuck in its leg, and stabbed Crimson directly in the center of the skull. Crimsons lifeless body soon turned colors to a kind of grey, and just collapsed in on itself. You could no longer even see it's body, only the particles of dust laying where it's body was.
"Well, there you have it! I killed one of my best friends, you f*ckin' asshole! You wanna come down here now, champ? Is that what'chu wanna do? So I can show you who the man in this house is, and who's the bitch?" shouted Harrison.
Tenerris gave a short laugh before jumping down to the arena from his little private spectating box. Once hitting the ground, he whipped out both of his hand cannons and gave them a little twirl before aiming them directly at Harrison.
"C'mon, Harrison. Show me whatcha got."
Before Harrison could even draw his auto rifle, Tenerris was already firing down on him. But all of a sudden, all power throughout the arena and the bunks was cut. All of the monitors shut off, and the panels were locked open. All of the lights went out, and it was nearly impossible to see even three feet ahead of you.
"Serenity?" I asked in uncertainty.
"Still here," she responded.
"What in the hell just happened? Did we just lose all power?" I asked.
She was about to respond but I felt a sudden surge of pain throughout my entire body. Like every single one of my muscles just constricted as much as possible, and I couldn't even move for a moment. I just sat there, screaming in pain.
"Nex, what's wrong?! Why are you screaming?!" shouted Serenity, worriedly.
I couldn't respond though. There was no way I could talk through the pain. It was absolutely unbearable. It felt like my skin was being torn open from the inside.
"Nex, please answer me! Please!"
Minutes later, the power came back on and the surge of pain instantaneously stopped. I found myself laying on the ground a few feet away from my bed when I could finally see again. Serenity was kneeling right next to me, trying to see what's wrong and how to fix it.
"God, Nex, what happened to you?"
"I don't even know..." I said, while she helped me stand up. "Once the power shut off, I just felt a ton of pain throughout my entire body. It was awful."
She led me to my bed and sat me down, where she sat next to me.
"Ugh... Nex..." said Serenity, staring intently at me for some reason.
"What?"
"Your eyes... They look weird, almost reptilian..."
I quickly rubbed all over my body, making sure nothing else was wrong besides my eyes. Everything seemed to be in order.
Before I could even respond, Tenerris came over the intercom:
"All crew aboard the Sengnelisis Dreadnought, our Lord and King, Oryx, has arrived!"
The few Lost who remained in the bunks began cheering for Oryx, while Serenity and I just stared at each other with great fear... A Hive God is now on this ship...
The feed to the arena finally came back online for all monitors, but what I saw made the anger inside of me for Tenerris grow greatly. On the screen was simply a picture of Harrison laying dead in the middle of the arena, with a large blood puddle surrounding him and a caption under it saying "Bitch"... Tenerris couldn't even give Harrison the honor of a fair fight, even a fair death. I want to kill that asshole so bad.
"Nex... I am so sorry... I know Harrison was a good soldier, I can tell..."
Yeah, he was... I just want to kill Tenerris so bad. So, so bad..." I responded.
"I do too. That asshole killed off my entire fire team as well..."
I looked up over to Serenity instead of directing my attention at the hundreds of monitors with pictures of a dead best friend plastered on them.
"Really?" I asked in a light tone of voice.
"Yep... And the worst part is,"
She paused for a moment, holding up their old, pre-Golden Age military dog tags she pulled out of a pouch on her belt.
"He put me in the arena, and forced me to kill them myself."
There was a moment of silence. I didn't really know what to say. Serenity had been forced to kill her own fire team off probably because they were turned into whatever Xivilax is, she was kept here for a lot longer than I have, possibly years longer, and she still retains her sanity? I probably wouldn't be able to handle it. I don't know how she does it, but she does. I wanted to remind her that she's not alone in this anymore. She reminded me, and it looks like she could use a good friend right about now. We all could.
I rested my hand on her leg and gave a small, innocent smile when she looked up at me. She didn't mind. She even gave a smile back, and rested her head on my shoulder while we sat there. We just talked for what seemed to be forever about random stuff, like what we liked to do for enjoyment, what kind of Crucible arenas we liked to compete in the most, and all kinds of things. It was good to get our mind off of the bad things happening around us. A little reminder that we haven't always been locked up in this ship. Tonight, I felt a certain feeling. A certain emotion. One that I hadn't felt on a long, long time...
