Playing Destiny Under Age
Although this is an old, already discussed problem, I believe that we can still change. I feel that the majority of players that play Destiny are under the appropriate age for shooters. I think this age should be 18 and over. I'll give you a few reasons.
1)It causes traumatic situations. I for one do not want my child flinching and screaming away every time they see somebody holding a sword.
2) It causes anti-social instincts to grow. When you think about it, the average session a child will play in Destiny is three to four hours. That's three to four hours where the only communication the are getting is with people they have met over the Internet. I don't want children growing older and being scared of every person they see.
3) It teaches them bad words. Every lobby I go into, there is always that person (usually a child) screaming curse words for no good reason. Where did they find out these words? From older players. If there was a minimum age, you would not have this problem. Children are getting angrier because of this game.
4) My final reason is that it causes violence. No 10 year old should be able to make another creatures head explode, or shoot other players virtually. What happens when that transfers to the real world? That anger and frustration would lead to much property being desecrated including
Mailbox Baseball
Laser Tag
TPing Houses
Egging Cars
Multiple holes in the wall from being punched.
ANY PERSON who do not follow these rules should be arrested with a minimum 2 year sentence.
Thank you all for the support you give me. I believe that a change to only 18 year olds and over would make the worlds youth safer and more intelligent than currently.

Also, video games provide an escape from reality. If you are a kid getting severely bullied and you need to take that anger out on something, it's always better to take it out in games. Shooting games let them picture their bullies faces on bodies and pull the trigger on them, providing a huge satisfaction and letting them have a break. Where they are weak in the physical world, they can be strong in the virtual world. If you don't want kids to take out their anger in video games, then you better expect them to take it out on real, physical things. If you want kids to vandalise things, then you aren't popular with the owners of said things. But if you manage to introduce these rules, then you should expect many kids, and their unfortunate parents, to hate you for taking one of the places where they feel in control. Sure, they can play other games, but beating someone in a race on Forza doesn't provide the same relief of shooting some unlucky person in the face in Destiny. Just let kids play the game they love, and if you feel as though you don't want to play with kids, then don't. Mute them in chat, create a party or leave the game altogether.

But on a serious note, I've met children more mature than some of the adults I know. Holding off a video game from kids until they're 18 won't change much, they'll just play it then and will eventually learn all the stuff you don't want them to experience later.

6 RepliesI've been playing things like God of War, Halo, CoD, ect since I was about six years old. My dad and I would always play them, and still do. Now, I'm sixteen, an honors student, and know very well the difference between what's right and wrong. Age doesn't matter, it's the maturity of the child/teen, as well as the parents teaching them at a young age what you can and can't do. You strike me as someone who has landed in one too many lobbies with squeakers and is now trying to find a way to cut them from games. Sorry to tell you, dude, they're half of a video game companies fan base, so it'll never happen.
