Playing Destiny Under Age

Although this is an old, already discussed problem, I believe that we can still change. I feel that the majority of players that play Destiny are under the appropriate age for shooters. I think this age should be 18 and over. I'll give you a few reasons. 1)It causes traumatic situations. I for one do not want my child flinching and screaming away every time they see somebody holding a sword. 2) It causes anti-social instincts to grow. When you think about it, the average session a child will play in Destiny is three to four hours. That's three to four hours where the only communication the are getting is with people they have met over the Internet. I don't want children growing older and being scared of every person they see. 3) It teaches them bad words. Every lobby I go into, there is always that person (usually a child) screaming curse words for no good reason. Where did they find out these words? From older players. If there was a minimum age, you would not have this problem. Children are getting angrier because of this game. 4) My final reason is that it causes violence. No 10 year old should be able to make another creatures head explode, or shoot other players virtually. What happens when that transfers to the real world? That anger and frustration would lead to much property being desecrated including Mailbox Baseball Laser Tag TPing Houses Egging Cars Multiple holes in the wall from being punched. ANY PERSON who do not follow these rules should be arrested with a minimum 2 year sentence. Thank you all for the support you give me. I believe that a change to only 18 year olds and over would make the worlds youth safer and more intelligent than currently.

Lol 15 years old I play all the time and I've got a 4.3 grade point average, I play baseball and soccer for my high school, and I've got a girlfriend. I also have over 500 hours in the game and have 2 34s almost 3 and I have gone flawless 9 times in trials. I'm almost at a 1 million medal score as well and I've played crucible with some of the the top crucible players in the world, like tomcatchi, who on a daily basis, streams to over 300 people on average. These top players are almost all adults and not once have they ever commented on me being annoying or having a lack of maturity to play. To sum it up for you, it's not about the age, it's about the maturity one poses. If you are a father, maybe teach your kid that a game is a game and what happens in destiny is far from what should happen in real life. Teach him that is important to be well rounded and to try and balance his time between destiny and other things. Play destiny with him and use it as a father son bonding time where you teach him about the game.
the game isn't rated mature so I don't why u said only adults should be able to play the game
• This hypocrite!!!! Why would you just want them banned from destiny when they can go on a computer and type in gun games and millions come up or playing cod you think that's a good game for a child. No mate doesn't work like that you're talking about violence and curse words kids will always learn ways to swear and find violence. It's your job as the parent to control your child and teach them right from wrong! Not just make a petition to banned them from a game. No -blam!-ing discipline your child and learn that if its 15+ it's not good for a child and tell that little shit they can't have until he or she is 15 like seriously people. What the -blam!- is going on with this community at the moment so many -blam!-ing retarded posts. Op= person who doesn't understand what punishment is nor will ever be a good parent

I for one report all squeakers immediately and boot to orbit if possible. This game is just not appropriate for their young minds.

                        • I will say this i personally cant play with many squeakers because they just annoy the hell out of me. However i have no problem with them playing. Ultimately it is up to the parents and unfortunately we have no say in that. Is it right for kids to play an fps? Maybe, maybe not. Some are mature enough to handle it and others go crazy because they are not. Parents now seem to be less restrictive of their kids and how they act online. I know i could never get away with cussing someone out whether virtually or in real life. But this is not exclusive to kids. Adults also act like they have no tact online. Smoking, eating, cussing, racial slurs and anger comes from adults and teens who should definitely know better. Also remember that some parents may not know what is going on. The kid may have grabbed an older siblings copy or acted out when the parents were not around so it may not be a result of carefree parenting. Ultimately i say let them play. It is going to be up to the parents and it is going to happen anyway. I mean i cant tell you how many times i have seen babies/toddlers at R rated movies, usually horror. But it is not my place to go above and beyond to tell them how to parent or have them removed from the theater. It is up to the parents and we really have little say in it other than suggestions and advice, we cant force them to parent differently.

                          • I'm 3 years old, and I'd like to say that Destiny has given me a wonderful experience. From the euphoria of receiving an exotic, to dancing at the Tower, Destiny is a fun game. Its storyline and gameplay exudes perspicaciousness that only Bungie could've integrated into a game. I have to disagree with your comment regarding a penalty of incarceration for playing a game. I believe that that would be simply egregious. Playing Destiny does not necessarily, for a lack of a better word, corrupt a child's mind. It does the opposite. Despite profanity used by specific individuals, the game does not fail to enrich one's life with positive and memorable experiences. I thank you for your time in reading my thoughts. Have a wonderful day.

                          • A) destiny doesn't have curse words in it B) There is a reason why the mute button was invented C) most kids will learn curse words from school, not video games D) The ESRB was created for a reason E) There is no link between video game violence and real life violence F) it's your responsibility as a parent to teach your kid right form wrong. So what this comes down to is: you are an idiot

                            • I am 7 and my parents only let me get play games rated EC. I think any minor caught playing mature rated games should be barbecued. A 2 year time out is not enough of a deterrent to set a proper example for junior.
