  • Hell yeah! Only if it's gamer prison. Everyone gets both consoles, a Lazboy chair a 60 inch TV and ra-pe proof under-ware to ward off Activision executives.

  • R U seriuos? I played Mortal Kombat when it was new. I played Killer Instinct when it was new. I played Golden Eye when it was THE FPS on console. I played CSS, Ghost Recon, Call of Duty and Doom. I played all the violent games growing up. I joined the military shortly after graduating high school. I deployed to Iraq for the first wave of support forces, I was in Baghdad while the Iraqi National Gaurd was still an organized force, they were shooting at us. I never raised my weapon wanting to squeeze that trigger and send a projectile downrange to hurt another person, possibly ending their life. That was the last thing I ever wanted to do. Your statement suggests that no matter what else a person experiences in life, violent video games will be the cause for them to act violently in the future. Did you ever consider that most of the people fighting for ISIS have never even seen a video game? Those are some seriously violent people. How an individual behaves, or doesn't, has very little to do with the media they see. The values instilled in them by their peers and their parents (whom they should respect above all else) will have an exponentially stronger effect on who they are and how they respect life. Your narrow view on the matter is the problem when it comes to preventing violence in our youth. It's not an easy answer, subjecting them to Care Bears 24/7 isn't going to make children loving and respectful of life and the rights of others. Children need dedicated parenting from parents that care and show them what's acceptible and what hurts others and is not acceptible behavior. As for children cursing. It happens. Your best bet is to find a way to discourage it. Promote diversifying your child's lexicon to help express their feelings in a more creative way. Explain to them that cursing should be used only in very rare situations. It's a tough one. Finally, locking up a parent for their child playing a mature-rated video game, yeah that's awesome. Take away that parent so now that child can have even less of what they need. Locking people up for crimes is not the answer. Locking people up should be for crimes that indicate that person is a danger to others, not for making a choice that others don't like. I'm very surprised to see someone from inside the gaming community posing this old and worn out argument. I've always imagined it coming from those that don't play these games. You're probably one of those gun control nuts too. That's a whole other topic, but let me sum up my opinion on that since I'm sharing anyways. Emotions are way more powerful than any weapon, control over emotions is much more important.
