What keeps you from completing PoE 35 (Skolas) every week?
What's your biggest beef with Skolas? I remember having this pressing need to do Crota every single week without fail, and have a full set of raid weapons and armor for 2 characters, it's not an issue of difficulty.
I don't do this with PoE and actually have not completed Skolas yet. Why? [b]For me it's mostly the checkpoint[/b], I just don't have that kind of time to play most nights; add in the fact that the rewards are really not any more attractive than doing the level 34 in [u]much[/u] less time and using that etheric light to ascend an older raid weapon that's basically better in every way.
Edit: On further thought maybe it's 60/40 the lackluster rewards and not the checkpoint that discourages me, though they are really the same thing in a way: if I could pick it up again the next day at a checkpoint, the effort is less onerous. I'd like to see a single checkpoint right before Skolas (non-sharable) to save a lot of frustration from network issues or time constraints. It's far less demoralizing to say "OK, gotta, go, let's pick this up tomorrow", than "Well I just completely wasted my night."
Edit 2: For all you MLG ballers who solo it in an hour, more power to you but the site won't allow me to add another option now. Suffice it to say that this topic is not really intended for your particular demographic, which is suspect is the minority of Destiny players.
Edit 3: If your answer is "I do it every week, git gud," then please choose which option you think would make it more appealing than it already is. For your purposes, "too difficult" would equal "takes too long".

1 ReplyI still haven't done it yet, because of Gear. I have lvl 34 light with several different setups, but my weapons are the weakpoint. Up until last week, I had no elemental Primary aside from Vex Mythoclast. I do not want to have to rely on Exotic Primaries, I would like the ability to mix and match accordingly. I now only have one 365 attack Legendary, Vision of Confluence, that I got last week. I have zero 365 special weapons aside from Icebreaker, and only one 365 heavy Truth. So yeah, my weapons are limiting me from even attempting the lvl 35 PoE. I think I am getting there though. I also got a Fallen Chestpiece, so now I have Hive, Vex and Fallen, and only need Cabal to round it out.

As you said the rewards/difficultly/time investment ratio is a little off. Having checkpoints would help with the time investment aspect but even then the rewards are still a bit lackluster.

Basically the rewards. Just not worth the effort. Most of my regular friends have gone away from Destiny, so for the time to look for a team, set aside a few hours because it has to be done in one sitting start to finish, get adjusted to working with different people, then get slapped in the face with no elemental drop, just not worth it. It is an all or nothing proposition and there is a high chance of getting nothing.. At least in VoG there are drops at different points and you at least get something useful. Well, at the time ascendant materials were useful. The armor core, weapon core, and etheric light can be had for alot less work and time in the 32 and 34 PoE.

This might be the last week I do Skolas. I beat over Skolas 10 times only got one shader and one Auto with Solar I think the rewards are -blam!-ing bullshit.

No friends to do it with, I'm only lvl 32 (33 with maxed out exotic), and I've heard Skolas rewards aren't worth the effort...

Haven't been able to find a fireteam yet, I have no problem finding teams for raids or the other level prisons but have had no luck with Skolas, probably because I don't have a gjallarhorn but oh well!

I think my main thing is that my friends are never really on to do it. Yes I realize that there is lfg, I just have bad experiences with it. People's mic's being to loud, and getting really salty about having to do a round over. I mean it happens, it is supposed to be a challenge.

Repetitive with terrible rewards and no checkpoints. It's too much of a time sink right now. Maybe if they addressed those issues. But bungie is lazy and already has their house of wolves money, so I'm not expecting much.

The rewards aren't worth the trouble of finding a group, grinding through 5 rounds and then grinding through the level 35 adds every sliver of health we take from Skolas. All in the hope that you "may" get extremely lucky and get an elemental primary drop from Skolas.
