When does Crucible become fun?
I've gotten a lot less angry with Crucible after I've accepted that there is no victory in it, only defeat, and that I'm not good at it, but it still hasn't become fun for me.
I can see that the meta is Hand Cannons and Shotguns on Hunters and Warlocks, but otherwise it just seems like throwing myself into the game as cannon fodder for others without an ounce of enjoyment.
So, when do other people start having fun in the Crucible? Is it a specific mode? I admit I'm a solo player and don't have groups to play with, so maybe that's it?

Players with poor stats that play by themselves, let me slay all day long. I do play with a lot of close friends which is always fun. My best game is 56-2 with a 30 kill streak solo on asylum control, last word and sniper on my hunter.

Play with a 6 man fireteam and spend the entire game seeing who can dance the hardest

If ps3, add dahminus_kai It's all about knowing how to react in each engagement and being the class that fits your pvp style. Striker was the last class I tried in pvp and is, by far, my favorite. Never would've guessed that

It starts getting fun when you're a middle to bottom player and are getting all the rewards. Meanwhile the top person in your team is getting nothing or crap.

Use messenger, it competes with the "meta hand cannons" especially if you are like me and suck with hand cannons. Sit back and snipe so you dont rage over blink shotty. Use mk44's with shoulder charge. So fun to one hit melee people. Slamming blade dancers is also great. Tbag for extra troll. Then the most fun thing to do. Get the heavy. Lock on with truth. Shoot it up in the air. Then wait for your kill to come in and watch the show.

This isn't slamming you at all, but it's only fun if you're pulling like a 2+ KD every match. Otherwise you're dying too often and it squashes any possible entertainment you could have. I find it less dreary than strikes cuz at least people change a little bit. It's really stupid, but Crucible is only 'fun' for those who have the skill to 'enjoy' it while everyone else is, as you've said, cannon fodder.

I would say play in a full fireteam and mess around. Make rules for your matches like Melee only or no land beyond only.

Play as a learning experience. Throw away conventions you have and force yourself to find a new play style.

Meh, once you start filling your match bounties up, kinda feels like you're accomplishing something.

I hated it for ages and now it's all I play. I think for me it started with playing with some friends (we all sucked) and then it grew on me, I think I also understood the roles of weapons in it better maybe? If you are on ps4 and want to play then add me: chirpcricket

PvP has grown on me over the last few months here, to the point where i do have fun now, but i was definitely in the same boat as you before that. Here's my $.02: -Play control - easier to get a sense of where the enemies are, scores are not 100% kill dependant -Play before 9pm or so - the sharks always come out at nite -Use the weapons that work best for you, don't have to use what everyone else is using -Don't use an AR - no need to put yourself at a disadvantage

Once your spirit is broken. Then Stockholm syndrome set in. That or you can start trolling. Just go in and cause as much chaos as possible.
