Well, it's part of his arsenal of techniques. He knows he is outnumbered since it's the entire Destiny universe against him. If I were Goku, I will make multiple copies of myself to even out the odds. Each one is even stronger than a SSJ4 Gogeta.
I know it sounds stupid but he is that capable.
