So about the Knightfall protocol... [u]SPOILERS! IF YOU HAVE NOT BEATEN THE GAME DO NOT READ!!![/u] IMO batman doesn't die at the end of the Knightfall protocol ending, he just fakes his death so that the world thinks Bruce Wayne/Batman is dead so all the people he cares about are safe. Before he blows up Wayne manor him and Alfred probably went to the batcave, secured it, then destroyed the manor. Sure Batman revealed his identity to the whole world but the batcave is still a secret, not many people know about it. Bruce probably goes into hiding with Alfred somewhere in the world (he's still a billionaire) and the battle for the cowl storyline begins and I'm guessing that the batman figure in the alley at the end of the game when those people are being mugged is nightwing/Dick Grayson (the first robin).
