If I may interject, I would like to express my theory. Bungie had this amazing story lined up for Destiny, and they were gonna over load the game with epic character stories, brilliant cut scenes, amazing story interactions and awesome voice actors that appeared in great sci-fi and fantasy shows (They still did the last one, which is pretty cool), but then they wanted the game rated T and in order to do so, removed all but the littlest bit of story, threw it all in little 'easter eggs' around the Destiny universe and told everyone that this was their plan all along. I find this theory reassured by some of the content within the lore being a little more than PG (more specifically Thorn 2). Just a theory though, so I can't say for sure.
