These are in fact paintings. The trick is a bit of optical illusions with layering effects using the resin. While social media is taking an interest to this recently it's not as difficult to do as you would imagine. Though, having the skill to paint realism is required.
If you want to see a video that somewhat explains the process taken to create these works of magic

Perhaps if I practice acrylics some more I'll try my hand at this.
Perhaps if I practice acrylics some more I'll try my hand at this.
I've always liked your physical work (pencil, pen and ink) and would be curious/eager to see your work with a brush. There's something about physical art when compared to what is drawn on a computer. I am not a snob, nor am I downplaying your skills with a tablet. I just really like the "realness" of something that is on paper, canvas, wood, etc. I can't explain it, but physical media means that the artist can't just "remove a layer" or "unbrush" something on a whim, so what goes down onto the medium, it's there. And I like that. Oh and yes, the resin fish are beautiful!

Whoa. Very fine art sir. What do you mean by resin? Like, weed?

Also, forgot the actual commentary on the subject. This reminds me a little bit of carving in the round, except, sort of inverted. That being said, the patience and meticulousness needed must be incredible, especially for the angles.
