Picture perfect post for my reactions to all the DLC shenanigans.
For me I was more of a JRPG/RPG gamer, with the exception of Super Smash Bros. on the N64. Never really played FPSs' till I went to my friends house and he had Halo CE on the original Xbox. It intrigued me but did not hook me in. Later down the road Halo 2 came out, that was an awesome game to play at parties with friends. It hooked me even further, but keep in mind I was still a fanboy of Nintendo at the time. As I got older i grew tired of Nintendo BS and switched to Xbox. I bought with my hard earned money an Xbox 360 and the first damn game I bought was Halo 3. I loved that game to death. Not only did the game intrigue be into reading into the lore of the Halo universe, novels I mean, but it also introduced me to great group of friends that I played with to this day both in real life and online; great friends named Wookie even with his health and family problems still play games with.
Now fast forward to Halo 4 kind of skeptical with 343 at the helm, but still went and bought the game. There were some major improvements, but also some major flaws; story in-game was a hundred times better, MP on the other hand was very CODy and that is a big nono in my book. But 343 has the capacity to admit their wrongs and make their rights with the incoming Halo 5; the MCC I feel was more of a corporate holiday forced rush release, but I am not sure of it.
Now look at Bungie with Destiny, new IP for them. The promise and hype of the game was riding on the legacy of their Halo franchise. With the release of the game and DLC season pass was a major disappointment followed by sorrow and the betrayal. Following the recent events has lead to rage and uproar.
What I am trying to get at with that long winded text is that Halo/Bungie introduced me and many others to an genre of gaming that we might have never played or had a thought of playing. The Bungivision that brought this shatter of a game has not only slapped but spat in the face on all the long time fans of Bungie.
I may not be a hardcore Spartan, but I salute to those who are and hope you continue the good fight.
