So, Bungie day is now along and Bungie has unveiled their big "reward" to year 1 players: an exclusive emblem, locked behind challenges that require you to own both DLC packages to finish. Awesome. That's really awesome, Bungie. These "Moments of Triumph" aren't even hard; beating every raid on hard? People should be doing this anyway. Beating Skolas? Requires more time than skill, really. The "Moments of Triumph" exist to ensure that Bungie can force everyone to buy every DLC package before The Taken King comes out. Someone could literally buy the game today and get all these challenges finished by Friday - that's the definition of a "Year 1 VIP", right?
Yeah, it's completely vanity. I'll live without it, and I'm sure as hell not buying The Dark Below just to get it, but it's funny how they continue to give a middle finger to everyone who won't throw money at them after the shitstorm from The Taken King pricing fiaso.
Great Bungie day, really. I'm really glad that your loyalty extends as far as the money trail reaches. Stay classy. I'm a little annoyed that I'm still considering buying The Taken King after this, but whatever.
Edit: You guys keep reinforcing the same falsities, so allow me to quickly clear some things up. I DO enjoy the game and I CAN afford The Dark Below. Nobody plays it, and I don't want it. I have purchased House of Wolves because it looked appealing, and I've ultimately enjoyed it. I don't buy things for the sake of it, I buy them because I feel they are worth the selling price.
Let me make something completely clear: I'm not mad that the emblem is locked behind a paywall. I'm disappointed and a little insulted that Bungie acts like you have to fulfill "challenges" to get it. What? Is it a challenge to play the game? Is it a challenge to beat every raid on hard and Skolas? I would be perfectly happy if they just said "people who bought both DLCs get an exclusive emblem", because that's fair enough. I'm cool with that. I didn't pay up, fair's fair. They didn't do that. They called it a "Year One" Moment of Triumph Reward. I've been here since day one, and yet I'm apparently not entitled to something marketed as a Year one bonus. That's what really bothers me. Nothing more, nothing less.
My Legend > Profile > Triumphs. People keep asking, so I'll just put it here.

You guys are missing something. When you buy TTK you get HoW and TDB for free. So if you intend to buy all 3 but want to get them "on special" and yet play every day of year one, you won't get the year one emblem. OP is right, no money outside of primary purchase, no emblem. Outside of the DLC, it's a week of play if played right to get all of these. Tldr I agree, should have called them DLC loyalty packs not one year rewards.

For all your replies calling out others for missing your point you yourself have missed a few. We are getting a separate emblem for showing we are year one come September. Granted that's tied to purchase of TTK but that's a different issue. This isn't a day 1 emblem it's year one and it's for showing what you achieved during year 1 - which runs right up till September 8th. Anyone who plays during that time is a year 1 player. There's already a Beta emblem to show we've been here from the start and you know what? No one uses it. Granted they could have done a few variations on this emblem to show what you did achieve if you didn't buy the dlc - maybe missing circles on the emblem - but the point is this isn't the year one player emblem. It ties into interviews they gave saying they wanted people to be able to show what they achieved in year 1. This is what the emblem is. If you didn't buy all the dlc that's your choice but this isn't a proof of dlc emblem - many people bought the dlc but won't have completed all requirements.
-
The reward, while just an emlem, is for those that did everything in year 1. How can you justify getting a reward for doing everying in your 1 if you didn't do everything in year 1? You want your cake and eat it too. If you chose not to buy one of the DLCs then that is ok too. Let's just remember one thing ... it's a damn emblem! Yeah, some will treasure it but it's not like its an Auto Rifle full of Wolfpack rounds.
-
I UNDERSTAND THIS NOW. READ THE FOLLOWING: Year one means year one, not Day one, Month four or even a week before TTK. It shows that you played Destiny IN year one, doesn't matter if you started days before TTK, you're in year one, and you deserve it. So basically the emblem will only be "Cool" when the Destiny franchise is already two years in or more.

Edited by NaNo xSHADOW: 7/8/2015 9:11:32 AMTo be honest, why would bungie want to reward someone that doesn't even buy their content? Fair enough if you don't want it, don't buy it, but don't expect a year one LOYALTY reward. Key word there, loyalty. Whether the expansions are good or bad, the people that bought the dlcs are the loyal ones. Not to mention the ones who don't go around making whiny posts on the forums.
-
You have every right to be disappointed. Meanwhile, I already had both DLC's because I enjoy this game. In fact, I was done with 90% of that stuff before it was announced. I need 3 more gold chests (stopped picking those up when the gear became obsolete) and a Skolas kill (nobody wants to run a first-timer through Skolas, since they can't be bothered teaching me). If you want it, get it. If not, don't. The beautiful part is: You get to choose.

The fact that you spent so much time putting together what seemed like a logical point only to just throw bashing comments at the end makes me kind of disappointed. Let me put it quite simply, you're wrong. Bungie did not have to even offer you anything here today, but they created a special day in which they celebrate the players and this time around, did so by creating a two month challenge with an in-game reward at the end. The fact of the manner is quite simple here, you're complaining that you don't want to buy DLC. This in simple wording puts you in the same boat as the people complaining on a weekly basis about not being able to do the strikes because they don't own the DLC. This is a constantly evolving game, and it relies heavily on the content that is continually added to update it, if you're not going to buy the new content then you are not entitled to anything it pertains. And just to reiterate this entire post in a single sentence that makes it easy for everyone else, you're acting like an entitled kid who is mad because they have to spend money to get a few pixels. FYI, you need to own both DLCs to play TTK anyways.
-
You didn't complete all the "challenges" of year one, so you shouldn't be whining about it.
By this I mean you didn't but TDB and therefore missed a big part of year one.
-
Does it matter its not like you would complain of they didnt gove us something at all so shut up

Edited by Kent_Strife: 7/8/2015 5:45:55 AMnot to mention I was extremely disappointed with PoE after it came out and I saw what kind of a grind it really was. It's not challenging, it's not hard, it's just time consuming. And now, if I do actually want ANOTHER emblem, I HAVE to beat Skolas, which is something I was purposely not doing to show my disgust at the mode. And funnily enough, I can't help but feel that at least in some small part, this emblem is also a push for statistics. I.E. 'Oh look how many people have played through all of our hardest content. See how many times it has been played? It must be fun, buy it now or miss out!'
-
I'd like to thank you for not buying the garbage DLC. Be happy that you didn't soend money on that trash.
-
or Or OR YOU COULD BUY THE CONTENT The rewards are for people who played all the content, through the year.
-
Totally agree. Hell I started right after tab came out and I have completed everything. All I gotta do is find the gold chest. Missing two I think lol. It's stupid really. I'm not buying taken king. I'm moving on to witcher 3 and batman arkham knight. Will play destiny casually but no more dlc for me
-
The part where you talk about doing all this in a week and being considered veteran year one player is my biggest complaint about this dlc. Year one should be alpha and beta players buying the game in the first month people who were before the vog was even in the game not some one who beat the whole "story" in a week. At least let players show the day there guardians first stepped foot in the world.
-
I agree OP, thing is, this bungie doesn't give a crap about anyone, that's why i quit playing. They are using the "reward" as a way to get people to buy the DLC which is what you stated of course, and spot on too.
-
It is an emblem to celebrate year one players and the fact that they stuck with bungie and destiny through year one. Of course you have to have stuck with them through all of year one.
-
THIS You're telling me just because I didn't want to buy TDB I cant get the emblem?
-
You need TDB & HoW to play TTK so you're entire argument of forcing people to buy the DLC is moot since they've made it clear a month ago that they are forcing you to buy TDB, HoW, and TTK if you wish to continue playing vanilla Destiny.
-
Aaaaaaaaannnd Mute
-
LMAO I know right, the blind loyalty these guys have is ridiculous. They are the model customer used to justify most business models. No surprise Bungie does the shit they do with the idiots in these forums.
-
Why do you still play if you do not plan to continue to support the game and play new content?
-
Where do I look at this Triumph thing?
-
100 crucible wins in 3 days, sound possible.
-
You needed the map packs from Halo 3 and Halo 3 ODST to get the Vidmaster achievements. I fail to see how this is much different.
-
Bro it's just free stuff bungue doesn't have to honor us as players they already got our money for buying them game they're giving us a free things except greedy bastards want more of already free content. I don't understand why people complain bungie doesn't have to give us anything. What other game company gives their players free stuff. What other company actively listens to their players and updates their game to accomadate what they community says.

Hahaha omg bump !
