Looking to upgrade my console, tell me what I should get and why

Get a PS4

2769

Get a Xbox One

3310

################################# Hey everyone, I really appreciate all of the feedback! It was great to hear a lot of real opinions, suggestions, and information about both systems. It was a lot of reading last night / this morning to catch up on everything, but I feel WAY more informed than before. I made this post to get some information to help me make a good decision on a new console and I think with all of your help it did. Didn't make this to troll/start a huge debate on here, but I guess it comes with the territory on a forum where people are passionate about their gaming systems. I made a random decision yesterday and pre-ordered the TTK PS4. I have enough store credit from previous trade ins at GameStop to make it affordable. Also will be trading in my 360 for an additional $100 off. So it looks like I will be starting from scratch, but I have enough friends on the PS+ network to make it fun. Again, I really appreciate all of the feedback/suggestions/opinions from you guys. It was a great read and I think I learned all I needed to make the right decision for myself. Also, thanks for all of the congratulations on me becoming a dad. Although I am still about 6 months out from having that new little one in my arms, I couldn't be more excited about it. Thanks again, guardians. ################################# I've had a Xbox 360 for a few years now and most of my friends either have a Xbox One or a PS4 (it's about a 50/50 split). I recently found out that I am going to be a dad (due late January 2016) and because of this and all of the future late nights that come with that in my future, I got permission from the wife to upgrade, so help me figure out what to get. Since I am already a Microsoft user, obviously going with the Xbox One seems like the easiest one to upgrade to, but I'm open to suggestions. For the Xbox, I am already familiar with the Xbox Live stuff and I'm already paying the yearly online fee, no need to cancel service etc. If I upgrade to the Xbox One, do I need to start over with new characters or would my character carry over? Is the Xbox One backwards compatible with my current 360 games (Destiny, Halo Series, GTA5) or do I have to buy new games no matter what? Any other benefits to sticking with Microsoft? As for the PS4, I don't have too much knowledge about this system. I've heard it's got better graphics, but I've also heard the online servers are unreliable leaving you unable to play often? Is it worth it? What other reasons make it worth switching?

Ps4. It's harder, better, faster, stronger. All you need to know. I play on Xbox btw, wouldn't have X1 if it weren't for friends. Edit: Poll is pointless on a Bungie forum. Try a non-biased place.

I play on both systems due to same situation with friends. I'm a bit more biased to x1 since I'm trying to get higher achievement score. Sony has paid a ton for exclusives for every triple AAA title that's multi-platform. X1, however, has more unique exclusive games coming out this fall and into next year whereas Sony's exclusives while announced are not expected to hit until later next year into 2017. For Destiny : Ps4 pros: I can say the party chat system and messaging is far superior to X1. MS really dropped the ball on this one. The one caveat now is that they are planning a major update this fall that is suppose to fix it all in lieu of Win10. Fireteam capabilities. Bungie for some reason gave amazing options to bring whole fireteam into another fireteam, privacy settings all within the game to PS4. X1 it is so clunky and you have to go outside game to friends list to make your invites to fireteam private. Exclusivity in exotics and strikes. To be honest only one strike is enjoyable. All Year one exclusives expire in Sept. Not sure what TTK has exclusively. Graphically I see PS4 runs smoother but the colors seem a little more washed out compared to x1. I have to constantly readjust settings on TV. Cons: Ps4 network is constantly going down and have random updates. Network being down is obviously a big one. I don't feel the community engagement like I do on X1, although I'm more biased as I have established a community from 360 days. Competitive play is weaker compared to X1. Controller is not made for long usage. Thumbsticks I replaced with X1 thumbsticks as did many of my friends. X1: Pro Stronger community. Stronger network (none are perfect). Competitive play more intense. Achievement Score. Controller rocks (elite controller is on the way!) Cons : see above. Pm if needed.

    • Xbox one for sure. If you like halo and enjoy the competitive environment xbl is for you. Also you wouldn't have to start all over on destiny.

If you want to throw all of your previous work on the 360 for the exclusive content that will be coming in TTK and want to pay for another subscription (PS Plus), go with the PS4. If you also play things like Call of Duty and are interested in Black Ops 3 and beyond, PS4 would be a good idea since they are getting dlc earlier than Xbox. If you want to continue using the same characters and play your 360 games as well, Xbox one is also a good choice. If you bought destiny and the season pass digitally for your Xbox 360, you automatically got a digital upgrade for the Xbox one, so you won't have to rebuy anything.

    • Ps4 because the yearly subscription is cheaper and you get 2 free games every month (save more money in long run) If you definitely want new gears or halo though go for X1

      • I have both, and to be honest the difference between graphics is not noticeable to me. The XB1 has a few perks like costing less that PS4 (haven't seen any specials lately), as stated by some, soon to be backwards compatible which having two kids of my own, saving money and keeping games from your previous 360 library is very enticing. I have both because I'm not married and my kids are grown LOL, but I have a PS4 for the exclusives which are pretty good, but I'm just a gamer from way back and enjoy playing the gambit. You can't lose either way but, since you have had a 360 and are thinking of going PS4 make sure you are done with the likes of Halo and Gears. I had heard Gears won't be on the 360, and neither will Halo 5. But either way you can't really lose as long as the one you go with has games you want to play and teach the little one :) Congratulations by the way, your real adventure is about to begin Guardian, so eyes up!

      • Lmao I have an xbox one and I've played my friends ps4 and it's obvious that the ps4 is a better console, especially for gaming and especially for destiny.

If friends are 50/50 pick with console that has the friends you'd rather play with.

Xbox one, because your save data for destiny carries over and also halo.

You should get a ps4 and the reason is very simple. Look it up if you don't believe me. A good number of games play at significantly higher graphic levels on the ps4. One example is battlefield. On ps4 it can play at 1080 p I believe, but on xbox one it only plays at 720 i or p or whatever. I'm not sure why this is but look it up. Also, ps4 has a better selection of games. It is a much better system overall. I have researched the two heavily. I have a ps4 and have almost since the launch of it. You're making a big mistake if you get the Xbox one over the PS4 my friend. You should definitely trust me on this. You will be happy you did
