You don't need to start your characters over if you upgrade to the Xbox one and you get your DLC for free if you bought it on the Xbox 360 and i believe you get destiny free if you bought it digitally on the 360. Also, te Xbox One is making more and more games backwards compatible. If you get an Xbox One (IF) before December, you should message me on the Xbox one so I can invite you to the Preview Program.

What is the Preview Program?

You get to try everything out first before the general public does. Like regular Xbox One users get game streaming when windows 10 comes out, but if you are in the preview program, you get it right now. You can also have backwards compatibility right now rather than waiting for its release in December. You also get updates early too.
