I've been primarily a solo player since I started playing Destiny, avoiding raids and never even completing a Nightfall.
Prison of Elders 32 was a gateway drug into LFG, promising a max light piece of armor each week with only 3 players needed. With that barrier crossed I began experiencing raids for the first time, completing VoG and Crota's End on both normal and Hard.
VoG has been very, very good to me. In 5 completions I've found my first Gjallarhorn, Mythoclast, Hawkmoon, Found Verdict and as of last night, Vision of Confluence. I immediately ascended it, to go with my ascended Found Verdict, and now my dream loadout is complete.
There are still plenty of things to do. Haven't killed Skolas yet, and I wouldn't mind a Lord of Wolves. But I'm at max Light level for the first time and packing three best-in-class weapons at the highest possible attack value (once VoC is leveled up, anyway). I feel like I've finally Become Legend :D
Edit: Thanks for all the words of encouragement and support everyone! I didn't even think this post would get a reply! :P I've been working on my Moments of Triumph, now all that's left is to kill Skolas. Once my VoC is fully levelled I'll be back in the Prison of Elders to take out the Kell of Kells.
Edit #2: Skolas is now dead, I've finished the Moments of Triumph and obtained the Lord of Wolves.
/done.

-
You are become death, destroyer of worlds.
-
Whats even cooler is when you lfg someone and become friends with them then make more friends through them.
-
The first chapter is complete, Guardian. Continue telling your story.
-
Keep at it, Guardian! You're not finished yet! May the light of the Traveler go with you!
-
This is what I like to hear. It saddens me when people say they don't raid because it's too hard to find people. It can be a pain sometimes, but it's worth it to experience the best part of the game. Congrats.
-
Congrats! Playing with a group makes the game 100x better - not just in activity completions but also in joking around why you wiped, got melee'd, etc...
-
Nobody here knows who the -blam!- you are so... nope. Keep trying though.
-
Can you do it with me later tonight
-
Awsome! Keep at it. Nice to see positivity in here. Be sure to learn how to use the relic in VoG and the sword in CE. Don't do as i. I have 50+ raid completions with only a few times of relic use (most sucessfull) and only 3 trys with the sword. Need to master that shiz.

Sounds like you have the same VoG luck as me EXACT SAME
-
congrats buddy ;)
-
You have the tools the become a legend but you're not quite there yet according to your Moments of Triumph status. You just need to find a few gold chests and beat Skolas. Then you may take your victory lap around the Tower.
-
Congrats man!
-
Congratulations dude!
-
Have you gone flawless?
-
Good job man! It's a great feeling. I Always disliked multiplayer games compared to single player, because the human element usually results in a mistake (which is fine but I prefer solo). However, Destiny forced me to get people, and so I bit the bullet and decided to start finding others for VoG (pre-DLC). After finding people through the tower and a lot of trial and error, I finally found a good group of people who are pretty active. Now we do stuff all the time and have a blast doing it. I even found a ToO partner from the #recruitment and he was equal skill as me and my buddy, and we go flawless all the time. I still prefer playing single player, but I have to admit, there is a satisfaction of beating things that you have been stuck on with a group of 6. Every one is so excited and you can't help but be excited yourself

Heyeyeyeyeye Welcome to the Raiding/JellyHorn/HawkMoon/Vex/Etc. Club! Continue doing what you're doing man, I hope to see you soon
-
This is what I want year one players to feel. Not, "oh my god my thorn carried me to the lighthouse and I got blah blah blah" welcome to the top dude you earned it
-
Congrats. I like how you started all solo and then went to multiplayer. I am trying to get better by soloing things on my own. There are just too many times that I am not cautious enough, but I am getting better at it. Awesome work guardian.
