Unless I missed this or something like this in the DLC notes, this could be something to consider if someone at Bungie takes the time to think it through a bit and see if it can work.
Not trying to promote some here, but just hear his idea out. (KackisHD on YouTube - Destiny: Elemental Burns in The Crucible! | The Taken King DLC (Wishlist)).
Sounds like something I would enjoy and potentially a lot of other players as well.
Random Elemental Burns in Crucible.
As per strikes or whatever, for that specific round of Crucible (not for the week, but random per round), have a random burn or no burn impact applied.
I.e. have Arc as a burn and then all Arc weapons do normal 100% damage, but everything else gets scaled down a notch (like 60% of normal damage for that specific weapon).
This should give a better form of balance and wider range of weapon usage (not bashing on Thorn users, though sometimes I feel like doing so). I know there will be weapons that naturally lend themselves better to be used in these forms of Crucible as well, but it should really add a form of diversity into the game.
Yes, people will have to track down more weapons and such but in a loot based incentive game like this, would that be a bad thing?
Anycase, just an idea that sounds like fun so I thought I'd put it in here for some discussion :-)
