Lvl 35 PoE - What the heck are we doing wrong at Skolas?

It's my sixth time trying this atrociously boring and repetitive boss fight. It's my sixth time failing. What the heck are we doing wrong? Our very first try, we managed to get Skolas to about 25% of his HP, about 2 or 3 shots left before the last mine part triggers. We got the whole rotating part right, we got the whole poison distribution thing right, heck even one of our teammates was just level 33! So, we waited patiently for our Heavy Ammo synthesises and used them, triggered the mines spawning by shooting Skolas once with our primaries, then shot about 14 Gjallarhorn rockets at his face and some Hunger (my other friend doesn't have Gjallarhorn), and he didn't die. About 10% HP left. Guess what? Enemies killed us before we managed to kill Skolas with our primaries/secondaries. Not even sure we would have been able to dismantle the mines anyways. By the way, I play on 360 with my friends. Loading the Inventory menu takes FOREEEEEVVVEEERRR, literally. So we would make sure that before someone opens the menu, they'd have just taken the poison. EVEN WITH THAT SAID, sometimes the menu just wouldn't load after ~10 seconds, so we had to have someone take the poison and then rotate if necessary. This shit is absolutely stupid and I cannot believe it's one of the things stopping us from making this fight more enjoyable/potentially easy. I almost want to say Skolas is impossible on 360/PS3, but I might be overexaggerating...! So yeah, what's the problem other than the obvious fact that someone wasn't lvl 34 and someone doesn't have a Gjally? We almost did it three times and died because of lack of firepower/modifiers like Lightswitch one-shot killing us/enemies spawning right when the mine phase starts/other artificial difficulty bullshit? I'm tired. I'm tired of PoE...

  • Seems like you're trying to nuke him down on last mine phase. Should trigger mines, disable them, AND THEN start unloading on Skolas. The mines are the only thing that make it hard, so get them out of the way and then damage the boss.

  • Boring is the word. Don't blast me for being shit everyone, but there is only so much time I can dedicate to doing this over and over again without the kids getting hoe from school (or out of bed after I have been up all night!) This just sucks.

  • It's easy. Just take it slowly. It helps to have invis hunters or Titans with a bubble to pop at the mines. Go in and take out. EVERY SINGLE ENEMY (apart from servitor) then take out servitor and damage boss until ads respawn. Same thing, take out all enemies and then the servitor and damage boss. Once the poison comes, keep close to eachother. Callout invis captains/vandals and KEEP ROTATING if you keep moving then you can kill the enemies without having to worry about skolas. Make sure at least 1 person has a shotgun and watches out for captain and takes them out (make sure he does a call out) and KEEP OFF THE GROUND. It is simple if you take it slowly. When the mines come. Get 1 person to take the poison and as soon as he takes it. You go to dismantle the mines so that you have the maximum amount of time (this is where invis hunter/defender Titans come in handy). Pop bubbles or get an invis hunter blade dancer to dismantle all the mines. Then get back kill the enemies and damage skolas. Same thing with the 2nd round of mines. After that. Get somewhere SAFE and unleash hell on skolas. BOOM completed in 20 mins. Simple

  • Your problem is you should have focused on the mines first.

  • I'm pretty sure I've got it. The people who are having problems with this are all old gen? Anyone else think this is it? My solution to your problem buddy is buy a new console. I honestly believe this is pretty much the root of most of destinys problems, I get why people can't do shit when your dealing with a totally useless processor and awful amounts of ram.

  • If you get the mines to spawn and are having no problem with the essence then you must be doing something right. Ive done it couple different ways but one thing remains the same since the nerf(or buff if you ask some people) play it safe and take your time. I wouldnt suggest trying to burn him out during mines you wont make it most likely just send a hunter, if you got one, while the other 2 kill as many enemies as possible and juggle the essence. If you succeed now skolas time as come to a end.

  • My group barely used heavy. We got it on our 4th try. Try using hard hitting or helpful exotic primaries like Red Death or Thorn.

  • Clear ads. Spawn mines. Dismantle mines. Clear ads. Dismantle mines. Dismantle mines. Melt Skolas. Remember skolas is not your primary target until you clear the 2nd round of mines. I find this easiest if you have a Titan bubble on the mine in the back right, and use a hunters invisibility to clear the middle and back left mines.

  • Constantly rotate around the edges of the map, never forget about the poison, and focus on clearing adds and objectives Damaging skolas will be the least important thing for most of it Titan bubbles for precaution and effective supers for clearing enemies (such as void bomb and GG) are good idea. Honestly, skolas himself isn't a big deal if you keep track of him, but everything else can quickly pile up and become a problem.

  • You have to stagger the damage. Take to 3/4 Deal with adds. Take to half Deal with mines/adds. Take to 1/4 Deal with the stuffs then finish him. But I hear you on the 360 Menu time. Try facing wall and look down. It seems to speed it up.

The thing which I did was when the 2nd wave of mines start send the warlock with self res in the other corner of the map. Make sure he take the poison before leaving. Then the rest 2 can stay on that platform and do other 2 mines with there supers. If u have a blade dancer then hunter alone can go there with invisibility and dismantle the mine in middle. And after dismantling all mines u will have enough time to run to the warlock and revive him for poison rotation. This worked for us and hope u can do it too. Good luck. But seriously if u have lords of wolf then lvl 35 poe is not worth the effort bro.

  • U don't have to have gally. U want a 365 primary and a good rocket lunch with tracking. U want all players lvl 34. If u havent beaten it yet you are in no position to carry. Having a titan will make it a lot easier. 1 pop synth in airlock. 2. Enter arena go left kill first servoritor. If u have a bubble with saint 14, pop it on the door . DPS Skolas. 3. Run across the map to the bunker where the second servoritor spawns, kill it, and DPS skolas. Have the team hold down the top level of the bunker . This bunker will be safe zone and u should not leave this area unless u r Hunter getting mines or serv. 4. Clear ads. (Do not DPS skolas) 5. Send hunter or war lock to get serv. Kill it, DPS skolas until adds come backs. 6 . Cease fire on skolas and clear adds. 7. Once bonds are broken , do not DPS skolas while there is adds around. clear adds then DPS skolas. 8 send Hunter or warlock to get mines. Shoot at skolas while Hunter is leaving for mines. So skolas dosent follow CLEAR ADDS BEFORE U DPS SKOLAS TO 50% HEALTH so the Hunter can have less enemies to deal with while dismantling mines. 9. Do not shoot skolas while Hunter is away. 10. When hunter returns clear adds THEN DPS skolas. Rinse and repeat this until second round of mines is over. 11. Once second round of mines is over clear adds then DPS skolas with everything u got he should die. REMEMBER : TOP LEVEL OF BUNKER IS WHERE U GUYS SHOULD BE. DO NOT DPS SKOLAS WHILE THERE IS ADDS, CLEAR ADDS FIRST THEN DPS SKOLAS. It's possible to run around and complete it but that is risky. Create lots of orbs.

    • I guarantee your concentrating too much on skolas and not on the ads, make sure the ads are dead before hitting him or the mines will be harder

Need to be 34, even at max level you will die fast. A 33 will get one shotted During the chaos of shooting Skolas, passing the poison and disarming mines, there are plenty of chances to die

    • Like others have said, you can't do skolas with a 33. It's just more trouble for what it's worth.

    • Not to be a dick or something but the fact that your friend is 33 thats a huge flaw. He damage penalty is so big, that even if he had a gally was not any difference.
