WARNING: May offend some people, or not
Ok, so before I begin, I would like to point out that this thread DOES NOT represent my personal feelings or opinions towards the type of people I am about to refer to. This was simply one of my shower thoughts.
Alright, lets get down to business.
People with Down Syndrome (getting straight into it) have 47 chromosomes. An average human being has 46 chromosomes, however people affected by this disorder have 47.
An offensive slur used to describe physically or mentally disabled people is a "vegetable".
Moving on, a potato, yes, a potato, has 48 chromosomes. This is important. A potato is a vegetable.
If you haven't caught on to what I'm talking about by now, here's a representation.
-----46------------------47----------------48----
Average person-----disabled-------vegetable
Do you see what I'm talking about now?
Now then, if we were to come at this like a math problem, we would use rounding. As 47 (disabled) is in the middle of 46 (average) and 48 (actual vegetable), we would round up, from 47 to 48...
My point is, this slur is most likely the most intelligent, most thought out and most developed slur to exist at this moment.
I hope that no one was offended. Normally I wouldn't give two shits, but this is a sensitive topic, so I'm treading on thin ice. This was a thought I wanted to share. That is all.

6 RepliesI support people with Down's syndrome It's my living As far as I'm concerned,none of them are vegetables,they all have,just like us,unique personalities,active social lives and relationships.all they need(sometimes) is a bit of support. I'm not entirely sure what the point is you're trying to make,but before you start comparing mathematics and chromosomes to real people,try and get out there and speak with these people,you'll be very surprised at what they are capable of.
