During today's nightfall, I received my 6th (or 7th?) Gjallarhorn as my reward.
Now, I *DO* think trading would break the game. But what about gifting? To people like my RL little brother, or clan mates?
Thoughts would be appreciated
Edit: if you could, what would YOU gift, and to who?
Edit 2: 100+ comments. Keep ideas/thoughts coming in.
Edit 3: this is meant solely for gifting, yet the line between it and trading is becoming very thin.
Edit 4: it's 1:15am my time. Going to bed. See you all bright and early, east coasters!
Edit 5: almost 200 replies. Thank you for your thoughts and comments!
Edit 6: approaching 300 comments. Let's keep it going.
Edit 7: redundancy. People seem to be against 3rd party black market systems stemming from this. 2 part rebuttal:
1. There are ways to incorporate this-whether it's during the Post-Game rewards screen, or through clan members/PSN friends only after a certain window of time, etc.
2. This black marked system is unfortunately already in place. Namely, in ToO. I know of several beneficiaries from this, who will run people through. Gifting would be *much less* harmful to the game.
Edit 8: people do not appreciate the true nature of a gift, as its defined. Nothing will be given in return. Nothing will be expected as a favor. People are greedy, sure, but you cannot sit here and tell me that activision/Bungie is not also without its overhead in mind.
Edit 9: coming close to 400 replies. Let's get this thread trending. Thank you to all who have replied, whether it's in favor or against.
Edit 10: 500+ replies!

Trading would not kill the game if implemented correctly. Yes, of course, limitless trading with whomever you want whenever you want would probably kill Destiny, seeing as there are not that many items that would be worth trading in any way. But the real problem that trading is probably not going to come is that people play destiny mainly because they want the rewards. They grind in the slot machine every week to have a chance at what they want, and they dont get it and try again next time. If you just give people the thing they want most through a trade, they might stop trying. While I am not quite sure about the trading , I think maybe an auction house would be cool. The only problem is, that compared to other games glimmer in itself is so useless that even 25000 would not be enough for most weapons or armor. The currecency in this game is too limited in carrying, not useful enough and being undermined by too many other things that you can trade for other things and use for other things and wont be needed anymore at some point so... I don't know. The system barely works at it is, lol.
