Can someone seriously justify the Black Hammer nerf?

I really don't see why this is getting nerfed at all. Who can convince me? It makes no sense...

    • I would much rather they change it so you only hold 6 reserve ammo, so 9 total shots and each ammo pack only picks up 2 rounds. Then it hurts if you miss a crit and the sniper can't be abused by unskilled players

      It was severely over-used in PvE. Why use anything else if you can have infinite ammo with a powerful shot everytime?

      • 1) it's an exotic level perk 2) even as an exotic level perk it is OP 3) it is OP because you can chain infinite sniper shots into fallen walkers legs or any other boss with a large crit hit box without ever reloading or running out of ammo, this breaks the game. Simple really. Why do you use black hammer and why are upset about the Nerf if it is not OP and can be replaced by any other sniper? Think of the two exotic snipers, are they as good as BH? Exotics are supposed to be the most op in their class. The only nerf I disagree with is icebreaker. Ghorn is so op it breaks the game in PVE too. The rest effect pvp more. By icebreaker? It's really good, which is exactly the right level. It's not game breaking in PVE or pvp I don't think.

        • White Nail is an Exotic-tier perk, and it outclasses Ice Breaker. That is why. And you're still going to have the ability to fire 18-24 shots indefinitely. Which is still a good lot of DPS.

          • Black Hammer has the potential to have unlimited ammo, which is an exotic-level perk. It should not be on a legendary-tier gun. With the way they are changing it, White Nail now becomes a better version of the Triple Tap perk (full mag reload vs 1 round) which is more appropriate for a raid weapon. As a legendary, Black Hammer also will not be upgradeable to the Year 2 damage cap, so it's not like it really matters. I think the Ice Breaker nerf is way more unnecessary.

            Honestly (just a personal opinion here) I think it was because after the Dark Below dropped it wasn't long before people were able to solo bungie's entire end game activity all by their lonesome... And what weapon did most of them use to snipe from a safe distance?? Black hammer... It took down ogres, witches, hallowed Knights, etc with limitless ammo.. Making it that much easier for them to solo.. (Not an easy task props to them for great aim) bungie probably got butthurt all their hard work was completed by one single person at first and then it became so easy for them those people started racing for the fastest time doing it lol for an end game activity that should not happen.. But hey what do I know just a random guy on the Internet

          • I think it's because it makes certain elements of the game too easy. Sepkis prime, tank on Mars and any walker tank are all a bit easy. I don't like the upcoming nerfs.

            • They're nerfing it because the perk was so good it was like an exotic. Which was not intended. Yeah, it sucks, but hey, they made the stranger's rifle into an exotic (No Time To Explain) and that's not even a legendary, so there is some hope...

              • The way its perk works currently its a legendary gun with an exotic perk. Im not for the nerf but it makes sense. With that said i hope for the .000000001% that bungie will do something that you could use the crux or some other exotic drop to turn it into an exotic to restore it but chances are they will say we got the necrochasm
