Can someone seriously justify the Black Hammer nerf?

I really don't see why this is getting nerfed at all. Who can convince me? It makes no sense...

  • you still get to fire 21 consecutive shots before you have to look for more ammo people are crying over this for no reason

      • It makes perfect sense, since it was the go to weapon for those that had it for any boss that had a large easy to hit crit area. the game was not meant to be as easy as players learned how to make it be by abusing certain weapons in certain ways all the time.

      • Special ammo drops frequently enough for me to firmly believe this won't be an issue and for me to think people are blowing this out of preportion.

      • Infinite ammo shouldn't be that easily obtained on a legendary weapon. BH is like mini Ice breaker. It shouldn't be able to kill faster than ice breaker.

      • As much as I hate to say it, something had to be done. It outclassed the exotic snipers and was tier below them. They had 2 realistic options, make it exotic so it takes the exotic slot, or tweak the perks.

        • People who complain about these weapons obviously don't understand that it doesn't take away the grind. It still takes about 45 minutes to take done skolas and in crota if you don't have someone who can run sword then it's pointless. I have 3 level 34 characters. I just now got the gally and blackhammer. They aren't must haves but they should still be something players look forward to having and it being dominant. I also understand why guns would be nerfed in pvp but they need to leave pve alone enough said

        • The only reason I can think of is so we spend more money on this pos game. I hope all the people who were wining because they didn't have these guns are happy because guess what??!?!? You'll never have them now and these people will be the only ones who keep playing it. I bet this game doesn't last until year2

        • Same reason they nerfed Gjallarhorn. Too much GGEZ mode. Makes content too easy and boring, the nerfs are intended to make us to learn the flow of each fight and utilize other weapons rather than just nuking the boss until it dies in a minute or two. I don't mind it, adapting to new challenges is what makes this game fun for me.

            Yep... Trivializes challenges that are meant to make the player think and react under harder than normal circumstances. Equipping a specific piece of gear that circumvents the challenges they designed is against the initial vision, and rightly so. Furthermore it punishes players who do not posses the gear in question. These guns HAD to be nerfed, because as we have already seen with skolas designing new content around the damage throughput that these guns are capable of is a HUGE mistake. Edit: black hammer should gain critical hit damage with consecutive critical hits... Think a mini CA ala bl2... Stack up to 6 times for up to a 33% damage increase... Taking away it's signature perk definitely broke it and made it much much much less desirable.

          • Look at it in the terms of bad juju, it didn't get a nerf to infinite rounds, you know why? because you have to kill something to get your rounds recovered, and then it only refills your magazine, compare that to black hammer, it doesn't matter how strong the enemy is or if you kill him, you can just stream bullets into it, you can kill any boss on solar burn in like 12 seconds with it, no reload, nothing, just pew pew pew pew pew pew pew pew pew pew pew pew pew pew pew, I think the changes are fine, it still rewards clear aim and steady hand but it makes you still have to do something other than crouch and infinitely shoot at one point without moving until the mission ends.

            • The perk wasn't intended to provide infinite ammo, just refill your mag....now it does. If it was suppose to provide infinite ammo I'm sure it would have been specified.

              • It's really really not a bad Nerf.. The only scenario it hurts you really is of you previously were hitting more than 18 precision shots consecutively without seeing any green boxes laying around.. Maybe the only time that regularly happens is against Atheon? Valus T'auric maybe? And I am pretty sure people could successfully do those no problem before black hammer.. And the black hammer will STILL be the highest dps sniper in those encounters.. So.. Yeah.. Not really a huge nerf

                • Black hammer does more damage than icebreaker, an exotic sniper. And in its current state, it has unlimited ammo that "regenerates" faster than icebreaker. On top of both of that, it does more damage to hive majors. And on top of that, it's a legendary, so you don't have to waste an exotic slot. Basically, it's icebreaker's little brother who superseded it in every way. I'm not defending Bungie's decision to nerf it, but simply providing hypothesizes on why it was nerf'd, such is what you asked for.

                • They could at least have it function like word of crota and return one round to the mag. It used to bother me when I'd miss a precision hit, now it doesn't even matter.

                    • Am I the only one that thinks reevaluating the weapon would bring balance to the gun? As far as I'm concerned the Weapon was on a level that surpassed alot of exotics. I doubt this was the intended value......Hell with this nerf the BH will still be greater than the IB, even more so that they nerf the IB as well. The Black in my opinion sat right next to the Ghorn and was far too predictable in its over reliability. Infact the BH could almost appear to have infinite ammo in the mag making it far too OP in PvE against bosses....hell it almost felt like a cheese weapon. In a sense dumbing down this weapon will bring it back to what it was intended to be.....a legendary. The weapon will still be as great....it only means you don't have infinite rounds rewarded to you for good precision. Hell they even put in 3 more rounds in the reserves. Do you really think they did such a bad job?
