Can someone seriously justify the Black Hammer nerf?

I really don't see why this is getting nerfed at all. Who can convince me? It makes no sense...

    • It's being nerfed so it doesn't trivialize new encounters in TTK. The nerf has literally nothing to do with current content. All current content will be trivial after TTK because the level cap is increasing. [b]The 2.0 nerfs are purely so players don't insta-melt the new bosses in TTK, and instead have to learn the fight mechanics. [/b]

      • I can't, but we don't know what Bungie's end goal is. The way people use it might break a boss they are working on right now. If there is an ogre boss and we can get away from any adds, they probably want to make sure we aren't ruining the challenge. That's my guess.

      • Personally I think they should have changed it from refilling the entire mag to instead giving you 2 free bullets everytime you land 3 precision shots. That way it's still unique from all other weapons but isn't exotic like how it is now.

      • Uh, I literally shoot tanks legs continuously and without fail and it more than halves the time to kill it. Per Usual, Bungies nerf was WAY too strong. But the justification of the change is easy.

      • Well it did kinda grant infinite ammo almost if you were a good enough sniper and the nerf is adding more ammo to your reserves, if anything it kinda makes it fairer and really? Oh no we're gonna still need special ammo synths, we're still gonna be able to rattle off 18+ rounds before needing more ammo so we can still take out bosses and such just as quickly

      • Legendary weapon = Max ammo, high damage, outclassing other secondaries, practically exotic. I don't like the nerf, but I see where it's coming from. Icebreaker is a bullsh!t nerf though.

          Yup, it makes the game easier and practically makes missions that are supposed to feel like end game content be easy, it shouldn't have been in the game in the first place tbh. The only reason you are butthurt, is because you want an easy ride, most people prefer to actually be challenged.

          • Hello ray908, I can try. Black Hammer is currently one of the most used guns when taking out high-health enemies that are supposed to be difficult to dispatch, that are instead made easy and monotonous by the limitless supply of high-powered rounds being lodged into the enemy's skull. Think about it this way. -Black Hammer falls into the Sniper Rifle category of "Very high-powered, small magazine". The small magazine size is rendered completely nonexistent due to the Precision Mag Bonus. -With its extremely hard-hitting rounds, the "fight" is made all the more into a cakewalk by stunning the boss in place for an infinite amount of time, allowing you and your team to continuously smash the "Boss". -It also has a very low-zoom scope and a fast rate of fire, further decreasing the difficulty of hitting precision shots. -Such an overpowered ability cannot even come close to justifying on any Weapon, especially a non-Exotic. Coupling this weapon with the Gjallarhorn is a combo that allows players to complete "activities" with almost no effort whatsoever. Not to mention the fact that both Gjallarhorn and Black Hammer are Solar damage, meaning for activities with Solar Burn, players are even more obliged to pair these implements of annihilation, and they do [b]even more damage.[/b] At this point, I am certain any reason [b]not[/b] to go through with this nerf has been nullified at least twice over.

            • Bungie does want you sitting in one spot during a boss fight so they removed unlimited ammo so you move and do the actual boss fights

              • I don't own the gun or care about it, so this nerf seems perfectly valid to me. If you do own the gun, I recommend dismantling it, and that will make the nerf a nonissue for you. Problem solved.

              • Seems kind of dumb, now triple tap is better. They complain about icebreaker campers, well now more will use icebreaker again and camp longer since they upped the charge rate. Good job Bungie, you accomplished the exact opposite of your stated rationale. Same with Gjallarhorn, weaker Gjallarhorn = more Gjallarhorns needed = more discrimination on lfg sites.
