Now with Gjally's wolfpack rounds getting nerfed and its effectivity reduced. I've thought about something: won't most people want even more people with a gjally after the nerf? Before, few people would accept others without it because they already had enough firepower to deal with the objective.
After the nerf have been applied, I believe the it will only promote even more elitism amongst the already toxicated player base. Everytime I visit the LFG forums a lot of the post contain a "must have gjally" requirement.
By nerfing the wolfpack rounds, people will feel the need to only accept gjallys to accumulate for the nerf introduced, thus resulting a backfire to this nerf's original intent. To eliminate exclusivity.
Any thoughts?
Edit 1: To admit, I've never owned a Gjally before and I've played since day one. I have already had much trouble trying to get into a raid or PoE team.
Edit 2: Better formulated the op.

If they wanted to fix elitism in LFG, they would have in-game LFG, optional matchmaking for endgame content and harsh bans for votekick abuse.

Edited by Qwerty: 7/18/2015 7:49:55 PMProbably. Originally someone could do it with 2/3 Gjallarhorns, but now they will need 3/3. I also think the black hammer nerf will further the problem now that it can't create 3 bullets out of thin air (and the ammo reduction).
-
Ive never understood the "need gally to join" shit i can do all the raids and PoE without using one if you cant then you shouldn't be playing the game because you are trash. Two rockets of any kind from 4 players can down crota. Atheon you should use a sniper it hits harder and keeps him in place for better follow up shots. And well PoE you just hid in one place and shoot the boss till he dies a Ghorn is only to help speed the kill thats all nothing else.

This nerf had to happen. They removed Skolas's burn but bosses remain Gally targets. They had to weaken the gun so that you play longer. The attrition in players had to be slowed until they released something (TTK) that may entice players to return. It was about slowing the bleed, not destroying the gun. That is why they increased blast and slightly touched the WPR.

Edited by Admired_by_ALL: 7/17/2015 11:51:50 AMGhorn should be nothing more than a Hunger of Crota that holds 8 rounds glad to see it finally gets nerfed so all those "must have ghorn" pu33ies can STFU

Edited by Guardian1219: 7/17/2015 10:03:00 PMBackfire? *New Gjallarhorn perk after 2.0: -backfire: rockets fire backward. we feel this will better balance this weapon, and open up new social experiences for those who use it.

Yes, you are probably right. I think it will cause teams to look for gallys only (no exceptions). It's unfortunate but that's probably what Bungie has created. There was always some people asking for that but most would settle for 2 and another random. Now I think teams will want all gallys. I personally could not care less what someone else is using as long as we get the job done.
-
Edited by Always Feral: 7/18/2015 8:07:28 AMThe only way Gjallahorn nerf won't backfire will be if they've secretly made the next big "Boss-Killer" weapon in TTK and are trying to level the playing field so people spend their money to be hunting that instead of sticking with the God Of Rocket Launchers.
-
All they need to do is put it back in xurs loot table so that everyone can get it. Bungie themselves created the split between gjally owners and none gjally owners by making it so hard to get and giving it an even more legendary status. As usual, they cock something up and we all suffer as a result.
-
No. If truth and gally did same damage (just for arguments sake) why would you want a team of full gally's?
-
Only the bad players will require people to have it. You shouldn't play with them anyways
-
Yep, Pretty much

Also, many of us will do it to spite Bungie. And I guarantee you that it will happen
-
You are correct, blindingly obvious if Bungie actually had anyone with Systems Engineering or Psychology experience.
-
Exactly. I've never asked for people to own it, and I've only seen a few ask. Now recruitment forums will always ask for it. Atleast I'm safe.
-
Wow. This is almost word for word the post I made yesterday.
-
Have you played Destiny with this patch implemented?

#saveghorn

Other launchers ill do about the same damage, therefore they're all equal, so any will be accepted, No matter the launcher
-
It will be split down the middle. Those who already being exclusive "@$$hats" will be even more so, those who casually wanted but not required Gjallarhorn fireteams wont care much.
-
That's so true lol bungie is retarded everyone was fine with only half the team having gjallarhorn but now people are going to want a team of 6 with it
-
Imo It will increase elitism, for the lack of Wolfpack rounds damage people will have the mindset that to compensate for that they are going to only want players with ghorn to have the best possible chance at completing an activity
-
Edited by FlapjacksNsyrup: 7/17/2015 8:44:29 PMMy thoughts: they actually need to increase the damage of Wolfpack Rounds if they want fireteams to rely on it less. However, by doing that, people will still want Gallys so they can crush bosses easily and therefore rely on it still. My final thoughts: It should stay how it was before 2.0 weapon update and Xûr should sell it. it's a battle they can not win.
