It isn't being "annihilated". It will still have fastest DPS and best stun lock on bosses. You'll just have to carry special synths or look for ammo.
It isn't even "weaker", it's just much less cheesy.
Or, switch to an Ice Breaker while clearing adds, wait 48 seconds, switch back to Hammer, just like magic, you got 9 shots again.

48 seconds is an eternity in game. By then, the people in the atheon portals are in and out. Yes, the gun will be as powerful, but just be completely eclipsed by its former self.

If you use LFG like me (or your team wipes a lot), I suspect we'll end up going back to Ice Breaker + LMG because not enough people will have Black Hammer and we'll run out of shots. No time to swap weapons or pop synth during that fight. But if most people have Black Hammer it shouldn't take more than the full 21 shots from any one person. Just have to pop a synth at the start of the run if you're low. I'm just saying it isn't the end of the world and Black Hammer is still best-in-class for PvE DPS. It just doesn't [i]also[/i] have infinite ammo anymore.
