Bungie Devs,
You said you wanted every exotic to sound, play and feel like an exotic. You know why everyone loves and treasures the all mighty Gjallarhorn? Because it's the only Exotic you've managed correctly so far. It's the only exotic that is exotic in every way. It looks exotic! It sounds exotic! It's damage is better than any other legendary on the market.
Don't nerf the great exotics like Ice Breaker and Gjallarhorn. Buff the crappy ones to make them as exotic as Gjallarhorn.

Edit: This post is mostly about PvE. I am well aware of what power creep is and buffing everything is as bad as nerfing everything.
Currently exotics are too easy to obtain, max out, and are far too common in general. Think if all the exotics were as rare as Gally, and worked as well. That's the idea.

Edited by GiantTurtleWave: 8/10/2015 7:22:30 PMWe've been saying for the longest time. Yet it didn't happen. It angers me to this very day. Pretty soon we'll be fighting the darkness with plastic forks & knives.

This has been my position from Day 1. The top tier exotics as you mentioned make it feel exotic while some of the others, its like why waste the exotic spot on this POS. Exotics are too easy to obtain but the bigger problem is that there are so many exotics and most of them are only equal or worse than a legendary gun. For instance, all the primary guns with the exclusion of TLW and Thorn, and maybe Mythoclast. Special weapons are mostly misses, I do like IceBreaker, Queenbreakers, LoW, and Paitence. Rest not really. Exotic machine guns arent great when many machine guns are just as good. Truth and gally are great. Dragons breath needs to be a little better for me but not terrible.

Necrochasm should have been what the vex was back then

Theres this thing called power creep. Look it up. Its not good
-
Nah, TTK is already out of control.
-
Everything would be too easy

Imagine u are setting up jenga and one of the blocks are crooked. Would u change every other block or would u straighten up the crocked block? Gjallarhorn is the crocked block and everything else is in a good spot. It is better for everyone if u fix the outlier.

I do wish exotics were rarer and it would be damn near impossible to collect all of them. then they would feel like the first time you saw an icebreaker or a Thorn or an almighty ghorn. but like you said just buffing the bad ones would wreck pvp but PvE might get too easy then too so I'm okay with rebalancing
-
The time to kill would be even lower so no that's not a good idea at all
-
me: (invites noob to party) noob: so are we doing vault of glass noobs friend: wanna play cod noob: yeah sure i will in a second after vault of glass me: its going to take about an hour or two not a second! noob: (goes on cod with friend) me: (face palm)

If this were to happen, eventually everything would be a one shot and shoot as fast as necro and have max everything. this is backwards progression. You want things to be balanced, therefore nerfing the good exotics
-
Here is the problem with your last statement. You are assuming the definition of exotic is rare. But that is not the definition that Bungie is using regarding their usage of the term exotic. Instead Bungie is using the definition of "uniquely new or experimental nature". Each exotic has a unique and sometimes experimental trait. So no exotics should not be "rare" like you are mentioning.

nerfing is cheaper (and lazier) way of making up for interesting/challenging content. Kind of like CE - probably discovered in play testing that it was too easy so instead of making it more challenging in an interesting way, just over-level the enemies. I suspect that play testing TTK revealed a similar situation and instead of fixing that, nerf some weapons that will be key to getting through it faster or with less players than they intend.

Yes that way everything can be soloed xD
