It's all timing. Yeah you'll die sometimes, but other times you'll turn and from the height of your jump/boost blast them with a fusion rifle before they can even turn around. At the very least it will generally lead to a standoff long enough for them to hit their cooldown and then it's a standard gun battle with no Blink in the mix.
