Honestly, just do weeklies. Eff patrol. Eff queens bounties. Eff the Reef altogether. After reading several addiction posts, I can see more clearly what Destiny is at its core. Limited time rewards to bring you back again and again. Daily bounties to level up and unlock perks on those rewards. And when BungieVision decides you're not playing the game the way they intended...they change the formula, people complain, but keep pulling the lever to get the pellet. Destiny really is a Skinner Box at its core.
