I have come to the conclusion (and I know many share this opinion) that it is better to bump the counters to a weapon than to Nerf the supposed problems with a weapon since it often takes away the feeling of power that people play the game for. Instead, bump up the counters to those weapons to reduce any perceived OP aspect of a weapon in a specific situation.
I absolutely love this quote. I said in April that I thought full scale reforging would reduce nerf posts because we could craft weapons to fit our play styles.
As it turns out I was wrong about stopping nerf posts, apparently nothing can slow that train.
But I don't think I was wrong that it should have.
There are effective counters to weapons like Thorn. Yours may not be the same as mine, but the level of personal feel that can be achieved right now is pretty staggering for a fps.
Example: I always had a great deal of success in TDB PvP using high RoF Pulse Rifles, but it took me until the final week to have one drop with 3rd eye.
3rd Eye is exceptional for countering Thorn because it allows you to land not only the first shot, but the first 2 half the time.
With HoW I decided to try Scouts again and rolled my NA3D1 Full Auto/3rd Eye for PvP. It was unbelievable.
I ran the last IB above 2.0 on two characters and I've always been a dead even 1.4 since December. Are Scouts OP? Hell no, but being able to be 100% comfortable with a weapon and it working exactly how you want it to makes all the difference.
People get too caught up in stats like TTK. First because in most instances, the differences are hundredths of a second. And secondly because focusing on TTK ignores all the other pertinent stats like RoF, accuracy, magazine size, etc, as well as perks like 3rd Eye, Glass Half Full, Helping Hand, etc.
If your weapon is a potential two hit kill and mine three, who has the faster TTK when I have a perk that allows me to shoot sighted in first?
Just my thoughts. Thank you for the great post.
